Weird problem. Help?!

Wow, what a cool site!
I've been growing my hair for about 2 and half years (without a single cut) and recently it's been getting all thin and nasty at the ends so I'm getting a trim tomorrow (yes I'm nervous!). Anyway, I've also noticed that at the front of my hair (where forehead meets hairline) that there are lots of short hairs (about 1 to 2 inches long) that have appeared. Does anyone else have this? It's really frustrating, when I put my hair in a pony tail I have these little hairs that stick out so I end up having to put a bit of gel on to 'hide' them.
It sounds so trivial but I haven't seen it on other guys or women. Are they just new hairs growing out or are they remnants of snapped and broken hairs?
Any advice would be great appreciated.

I get the same thing. I use 'pommade' (not gel) to help stick the hairs down. I believe that at any given time we all have a mix of long and short hairs on our head. Depending on the hair texture and orientation of the folicles some people's short hairs will stick straight up until they get long enough to bend over on their own. I think a lot more people use products to combat this problem than you realise.

Yep, I think you're right actually. I haven't noticed it on other people but at the same time I doubt people would notice it on me (because of the gel I put on). The weird thing was that I only noticed it a couple of months ago and yet my hair has been long (past my chin) for a good year now. Oh well, just one of those things I guess.
Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

I have the same problem. It's pretty normal. You could trim them off, but I wouldn't. Try brushing it alot. Re-tie your hair often. These things will help!

Sounds rather "normal" actually. Those little hairs in the front could be either NEW HAIR GROWTH or "broken." A bit of Gel in that area should solve the problem most likely.
About the "trim:" the hair (only my opinion) is probably at "Terminal." This is not to say it cannot ever grow longer because I don't know of the care it received when you 1st were growing your hair out. (Could be the problem here as that hair was damaged in the beginning phases?)
One thing for sure..........I can WELL see where you are coming-from with your worry...........NOT TRIVIAL by any means to one who desires great Long Hair.
