Longhair Companion

This is a test message. I've created a new Yahoo group as a place to do things that cannot be done here. It's not meant as a replacement but a supplement. One of the things I hope to be able to do is provide a place for members to upload pictures.
I'm testing this out with this post. If it works properly, you should be able to see my picture. If this works, I'll post instructions on joining.
Please reply whether you see the picture. If someone has already replied with the answer you will be posting there is no need to post.

So much for that idea. I didn't think it was going to work, but it seemed to when I first tried it. Nevertheless, some of the group features may be nice to have. If you have any feedback on whether the group should be retained, let me know.

Just going out on a limb - were you trying to use the Yahoo group "Photos" page as a place to host photos, that could be put on the message board? As you've found out, it doesn't work; yahoo doesn't allow remote linking to the photos in Groups. Nice idea tho!

Yes I was. I thought it didn't work before I tried it. Then it seemed to work, but only because the image was still in my browser's cache.

I've decided on an alternative. I hang out a lot in photo-related forums. A service used a lot there is pbase.com. I've set up a pbase account for members here to use.
It's designed with external inline linking in mind, so it should be a great solution. However, there is a cost. The cost is quite reasonable, though.
So here's how it's going to work. There's a free period of use for 30 days, so I'll give the community here until the end of the month to vote with their pocket books.
Contribute using the Amason honor system at the top of this forum, or if you prefer, contact me by email to set up a Paypal payment. When I've collected enough to cover the first year's fee ($23), I'll upgrade the account.
Thereafter, login id and password will be given out to anyone who contributes. I've set the minimum contribution to $2.00, so this should be very affordable for everyone.
One last thing. If you contribute via the Amazon honor system, you have 30 days to cancel your contribution. If I haven't collected enough by the end of March for an account upgrade, I'll post an announcement here so that you can process a refund.
When you make a contribution, be sure to include a note indicating that it is for funding Pbase. There's a way to contribut anonymously, but if you do that, I can't give the login information to you.

The pbase name, by the way is menslonghair. Anyone can see it but only those with the password can upload to it.
