Comment and terminal length question

Unless i'm much mistaken, ive just measured my hair using a ruler and compared my 2.5 months pics and 3.5 pics and I've just worked out my hair's grown almost 1.5 inches in 40 days! Pretty fast I think.
I'm really happy, hents the post:)(when i'm happy I post here, when i'm not, I still post here) I thought my hair was slowing down growing as it becomes longer. Fact is that I haven't noticed it growing too much because my hair is wavy and curls up a bit at the ends and the thickness conceals some evidence of growth.
Now heres a question. Does having fast growing hair equal a shorter terminal length than others? For example, if your hair grows fast, isn't the hair metabolism so high that you shoot to terminal in, say 3 years instead of 5 years and get a shorter terminal length? Or will my terminal length be longer than average because the metabolism won't kill my hairs off early and I could grow to 5 years and therefore have a longer than average terminal length?

Wow! Never have heard or read before of that much growth so quickly. I have noticed with my own hair that every once in a while it exceeds the normal 1/2" per month rate of growth and ends up averaging 3/4 inches. There have been several cycles of this that have happened in the past.

If it does, I have never heard of it. I do know of a case of someones hair growing over an inch a month and his hair is presently almost to his waist. His claim is that it has always grown at this fast rate. He is in his early 40's and has yet to have had any trouble and has had Long Hair most all of his life. Every once in a while he has it cut to a little below his shoulder-blades and then lets it grow to waist length again. Perhaps it is "Genetics" more than anything else both in your case and his as well as others whos hair grows faster than the average rate per month. Don't think I'ed worry about it too much.

My name is Joseph. My hair is almost 40 inches long almost to the small of my back. Of course I am 6'0" and sometimes I don't really notice the growth. I have been growing my hair for about 10 years with once or twice a year trims. Its all one length cut straight across my back. I mostly wear it in a braid down my back. Its dark brown.
The first year I started to grow it, within the first 1 1/2 years it was to my shoulders. 30 months it hung well below my shoulders almost to my shoulder blades. After that it seemed to stop growing. Of course I would trim it about every 8 wseeks then and the hairdresser in my opinion always took way too much off. Now I find a sympethetic friend who will just dust the ends and a little more to even out the straight across the back look.
Yes I believe we all have the terminal length thing. I take tons of vitamins (sp) and exercise. Perhaps its growing but it doesn't feel that way. I don't know how some people can have hair to their knees. I would love my hair to be that long. Perhaps another 10 years. Long beautiful hair is a commitment and an investiment in taking extra care of it with conditioners, the way its washed and combed out after washing. There are a lot of tips on the long hair sites that I have read that have been very helpful.
Hope this helps.

I'm a little skeptic about terminal lenght, simply because some people have 3 meters and longer lenght hair. Like the Guiness record for longest hair has 16 feet 11 inches (about 5.5 meters) lenght and its all real hair...I'm certain its possible to grow it to the floor and longer

Rapid hair growth is uncommon, but not unheard of, I guy I work with grew about 5 inches in 6 months... It was amazing. He'd previously grown is hair to waist length so if he's anything to go by rapid growth does not equal shorter terminal length.

I'd really like knee length hair, that would be awesome, although shoulder is fine for now
