swimmer w/ long hair...any advice?

i am trying to grow out my hair. right now my hair reaches the top of my lip.
anyway, i swim every day. i know chlorine is really bad for your hair, so i wear a swim cap. still, pool water gets under my swimming cap while swimming.
anyway, i was wondering if there is any special care i should be taking w/ my hair. is there any special product i should be putting in my hair to protect it? i have thin, fine hair. what should i do?
also, is there anything i can do to remedy a dry scalp?
thanks!

Since you are doing all possible to keep that Pool Water from reaching your hair and the cap doesn't work, this is what I would try: Washing (not always using Shampoo) after your swimming and using LOTS of Conditioner, allowing it to stay in your hair for 15 minutes or so before washing out. Just an idea........
Good Luck.

Some people say putting products such as CitreShine on your hair before swimming minimizes chlorine damage. Maybe it's the silicone that coats the hair? But then again, some people say silicone itself is damaging to hair.
So was this answer really any help? :-)

well, i swim on a regular basis too ,and the damage of my hair is considerably serious. then i bought this shampoo and condition called "Agree Swimmers Solution 3 in 1 Formular" at Big 5 (trust me that's not usually where I shop for hair products) , accroding to the description it moisturizing hair, provides daily treatment conditioner and removes Green Discoloration. I've only used it twice so i can't say what the long term effect could be at this point. and so far it does protects my hair from the damage of chlorine on a certain degree. Hope this will help ya...

Check with your pool to see if they are still using chlorine or if they have switched to bromine.

Is it an outdoor pool? For if it is, you may be getting damage from the sun as well.
