the itchy/flaky problem persists...

hey guys, i've posted about this in the past, but want to ask advice as far as what product(s) i should use to help myself with my itchy/flaky scalp problem. at the moment, i'm using neutrogena t-gel extra strength (doesn't seem to help that much, it seems i've had more success in the past with the standard neutrogena t-gel), i use it typically once, sometimes twice a week. but i've noticed if i go a few days without washing my hair, my scalp gets itchy/flaky. i wear a hat typically monday-friday while working, i sweat a good bit sometimes (especially now that it's getting warmer here in the south) - is this the cause of my problems? would not wearing a hat lessen this problem? also, when i say i go a few days without washing my hair, that means water doesn't touch it at all...should i be rinsing it everyday or using conditioner or something? and if some of you have used products like the t-gel, what would you recommend (i saw a few kinds on the shelves at walmart)? i must say, i'm actually tolerating the awkward stage alot better this time around (i'd cut it a few times before, and regretted it instantly), but this is one problem that discourages me. any advice would be appreciated! thanks...

Washing 3 times a week may help. I know head and shoulders used to make a stronger version of their dandruff shampoo thats pretty good but I dont know if they still make it, It came in a dark blue bottle. I used it and it did the job well. Hopefully this helps.

Perhaps you have very oily skin which would mean washing every day might be the way to go? Or then, it could be the complete reverse and be that of an extra dry scalp and hair? BUT............it is possible that after trying a few more things and the condition doesn't improve that a Doctor should take a look at it and be able to determine the remedy.

While I don't have longer hair, I do have a problem with itchy , flaky scalp. What I find works best for me, every day, is Head and Shoulders Smooth & Silky. Not only does it help my itchy, flaky scalp, but it really lives up to its name of smooth & silky. I've been using it everyday for over a year...I think it's great!

For the itchy/flakiness nizoral poo' is sure to clear it up. To keep it away try nioxin scalp therapy - this is a scalp conditioner. As for it getting itchy when you dont wash - this is due to scalp buildup - when you wash your hair be sure to wash you scalp, maybe wash it more often or on none wash days try using scalp therapy.

I experienced a problem with flaking a few months ago and tried Nizoral. It really works and you will definitely see results after the first washing. I've only had to use it one or two other times since, mostly due to me experimenting with other shampoos. I used to not be able to go past 2 days without washing it because the itching would get too intense, but after one application of Nizoral I could go an entire week without washing and experienced no itching or flaking. Great stuff and it works really well.
Best o' luck,
Brett

I too have problems with itchy dry scalp. Mostly in the winter months. I use the nutregena T-Gel shampoo's. I use two different T/gel Shampoo's. At the beginning of the week I use the Intensive Anti Flake Treatment and near the end of the week I use the Stubborn Itch Control. In between then when I need to wash my hair I use a Shampoo that contains Tea Tree.
I condition with conditionar that contains Tea Tree. I can't recall the brand name I bought recently and am to lazy to go get up and check it out.
