My Undercut Pics

If you're interested.
I'm really pleased with it. As the hair grows out some more, it wont be so thick, and now summer's coming, it'll keep me cooler.

Hi :-)
To keep from confusing anyone about what an "under cut" style is, let me say that while you did have the under part of your hair cut, you did not have it cut in an undercut. What you did was buzz off the lower layers of your hair, which is cool, if that is what you like. In an undercut style, the under layers are cut a small amount shorter than the top layers, which cause the top layers to slightly turn under on the ends.

No, he is right. That is an undercut.

Hi :-)
I am a former stylist, and no it is not an undercut. It is having the under layer of your hair buzzed of. In an under cut each layer of hair, starting at the bottom is cut only a small amount short than the next.

Theron is correct in technical terms. To some layman and possibly inexperienced stylists, this may be construed as an undercut. I believe the reason Theron posted this was so that others don't just walk into a salon, ask for an undercut and receive different results than that of JoNoty.

Well OK. Its an undercut in modern street terms but not in technical
stylist terms. Mostof the stylists around here don't know what it is
in either terms. Just be sure you explain what you want carefully.
I actually use a barber rather than a stylist.

Jonty,
It looks like your undercut was done very well and has pleased your needs. While I still would rather have seen you growing all of your hair long, I understand that your it was your personal choice and I wish you the best of luck with it. -Redleader

Fair enough. Thanks for the comments.
I do still plan on growing my hair as long as possible, just with an undercut.
It's actually quite cool. It makes my hair less thick, dries quicker, more combable, keeps me from sweating to much in the summer and looks good IMO.

did a great job. Although I'm not a big fan of the undercut, I do understand the need to stay cool during the summer. I'm glad you're happy with the cut. Keep us posted in the event you don't keep the undercut so skin tight.
ciao,

Well, your pics are not that clear, but it looks pretty good to me.
But then again I'm one of those very rare ones who has an undercut
and likes it.
The important thing is is if you are happy with it.
If you like it then thats all that matters.
So good luck with it. Just remember that if you want to quit the
undercut, you do NOT have to cut all your hair and start over again.
Keep cool!!

True, but its a hell of a thing to grow back if you do decide its not for you...
It was bad enough when I grew mine out and then I only had hair to "mid-ear"

It depends also I guess on how long the "long" part of your hair is.
I usually have a tied back undercut. The long part of my hair is
between 20" and 24" I guess so if I leave it down you really can't
see the buzzed part of the undercut. Just for fun I grew mine out for
a while and if your hair is down it hides the shorter hair growing
out. Once its long enough to fit into the pony tie then its no big
deal.
I don't have an extreme undercut. The real extreme one (almost a
mohawk) don't look too cool IMO only. It should be what each guy
likes and whatever makes you happy.
For me an undercut makes my hair look neater and I like (love) my
long hair more. Sorry for being so long winded!

True. The way you describe your undercut it sounds like you've made a good choice.
I saw a guy recently, about 45, in a business suit, with a pony tail and a fairly low undercut. He kept the short part to about 1/2 inch and sort of tapering at the back. Anyway, it looked great on him and fitted in with his overall neat professional appearance.
When you say it makes your hair look neater, it that in regard to thickness?

Mostly because the hair around the lower parts of my hair was always
frizzy and curly and never grew too long, just kind of stuck out and
looked messy.

Oh yes. Sorry about that. It helped in regard to thickness also.
My hair is thick and wavy and curly so it helped that also.
