Long hair Red Sox baseball player

I'm watching the Red Sox vs Yankees game on TV right now and thought here's a story that fits this board. Johnny Damon of the Boston Red Sox has a head of hair longer than any I ever recall seeing on a MLB player. Not super long, esp by championship wrestling standards, but pretty damn long by the standards of most atheletes in the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL.

Don't forget Randy Johnson. He's had long hair for a while.

Todd Walker from the '03 Boston Red Sox had rather longish hair also. Has anyone seen if his hair is long this year with the Cubs?
Dennis Eckersley, too.

Unless he's regrown it since he joined the Diamondbacks, that would be that he had long hair for a while. Granted, it was in a mullet, but it still was sorta long.

Very refreshing now. Especially since it was last season at
the playoffs when they pressured many players/fans to shave their
heads.
Not sure how it got started but many fans and players at that
time were shaving their heads to try and break the curse.
I was a red sox fan for many years, started rooting for the
Yankees after that fiasco.
The last thing I was going to do was cut my hair for any
baseballe team. No baseball tema or any sports team for
that matter could motivate me to cut my hair.

Last week I saw Damon on TV when the Orioles played Boston, and he had definitely cut his hair a few inches. The opening week, his hair was long enough to partly obscure the number on his back, which was really long by MLB standards. Now, it's still shoulder length, but not exceptionally long anymore.
The Red Sox tried the bald look last fall, but that failed to defeat the Yankees. They seem to be letting it grow longer this year - hopefully that will work and start a trend!
