Styling for straight brown hair

I have straight brown hair, uncut in a year and a half.
Can some of you with similar hair tell me or show me how you style it? Do you blowdry it? Do you comb it back or part it? Mine just really doesn't look very good... I comb it back and blow dry it.
Also, other than in a ponytail, are their other ways I can try to put it back?

Can you be more specific about what you don't like about how your hair looks? A picture would be great.
I use a blowdryer and a round metal brush. If you use a blowdryer you should be careful about the heat damaging your hair. To protect my hair and make it smoother I put some straightening balm on my hair after getting it nearly dry with a towel. Then I use the blowdryer and brush.
I think what looks best as far as parting your hair in the middle or on either side, or combing it back, depends on the shape of your hairline and your head. My favorite though is a part in the middle.

I also have straight brown hair, which I haven't cut for about 22 months. I don't like to blow dry my hair - I've heard it can cause long-term damage. So I just towel dry it and apply spray gel while it is still damp. I have a part, but I comb it back from the part instead of down from it, so it's not that drastic or noticable.
If I don't feel like tying my hair back, I will sometimes use a bandana in casual situations like at the gym. Otherwise a ponytail, for me, seems to be the only other way to put it back. It's too bad guys don't have all the options that females have for styling long hair.

You can braid it in various ways, use a clip and center it..
lots of things/ways. I told someone several weeks ago, that I didn't see a gender assigned to hair clips, schrunchies, or similar "tools" for holding long hair. Yes they might be used predominantly by the girls, but that is because of the predominance of long hair is greater with them than with us(guys). Is your attitude as much as anything else.
