Realizing my dream..

Hi all,
This is my first post here I just found it tonite, I've been going to a female longhair advice board for help..talk about feeling outta place..
I'm 20 now and Ive been trying to grow my hair out since 1995..and I always got to the point right above my ears and the tips would flip up and look stupid so I'd cut it off..well now back in October I decided"screw it, I don't care how bad it looks I'm growing it out no matter what" and I have been I only got a lil trim in mid-december and now it's parted in the middle and covers my ears..and comes a lil below my eyes..the longest it's ever been..I've never had it this long before so I'm kinda at a learn by mistake mode here I guess you can say..
I don't know if any of you watch pro wrestling I'm sure you do, if so the look I'm going for is Triple H, Edge and Christain..they have beautiful hair for men and that's how I want mine to look..I know it never will but I can dream I guess...
My hair is thin/fine..which makes it even harder to grow out..cuz thin/fine hair is more prone to breakage and damage which mine has suffered a great deal..I'm also worried about hair loss...I lose alot of hair each day spically in the shower,.I know it's normal to lose 80-100 hairs a day..but there's gonna come a point..when it won't come back..and that thought scares me..my hairline goes back pretty far for a guy my age..it's a widow's peak hairline,..and it worries me..my boss is 45 and he has more, thicker hair then I do..I'm jealous and angry bout that at the same time..
My biggest prob is how to care for my hair after I wash it..I used to scrub it with a towel dry..I know that's bad for the hair..but if i leave it wet..it dries hard..and limp and oily looking..like triple h wets his down b4 his matches and his hair flies around and dries nice and fluffy and looks good..mine doesnt..mine dries hard..dont move and look oily and limp even if i just washed it..does anyone know why this is?
Ive learned alot about hair the past year Ive done research bout it but I can't seem to figure out this problem bout how to care for it and dry it after a shower..I'm shooting for shoulder length..it's long enuff to where I can push it behind my ears but it wont stay and it dont look good that way cuz its not long enuff yet to look good that way..I figured once I reached this point in the length it would be smooth sailing..but it just seems to keep getting worse and worse..any help and/or advice would be very much appreciated..thanks!

Try polishing it with your hands. By that, I mean take a segment of your hair in one hand and slide it down to near the end, and then wrap the other hand around the segment up near the top. Then slide your hands down gently over the segment repeatedly. It's the same hand motion, one over the other, that you'd have if you were hoisting something with a rope. Do this for all hair you can reach on your head, segment at a time, about a dozen times per segment. You can do your hair in two main segments, one on each side. Plus maybe getting a few smaller clumps of strands in smaller segments afterwards.
Up near the top where you can't get your hands around your hair, just wipe down it a dozen times or so with an open palm.
This will make hair that was stiff from a recent washing much more soft, and it will turn a sticky-looking shine into a beautiful sheen.

I love pro wrestling. I too think Edge has great hair. I want my hair to look like the Ultimate Warrior's hair did around 1989-90. Check out Wrestlemania 6 or the Royal Rumble 1991. That's what my goal is. Unfortunately, I think I have to put my dream on hold. I'm supposed to student teach in the next year or so. I think about growing it long every time I look in the mirror, and it sometimes gets depressing that I just can't let it grow right now. Plus, poofs right out in the awkward stage. Good Luck to You!

Sting's hair looked good then as well. However, I think I prefer Sting with the short blond hair and the bright colors but I may be in the minority on that. Wrestling is a good place to get a lot of hair examples.
