Rivalry...Furr and Alan

I think you two should kiss and make up now.
There's enough flaming going on without a couple of webmasters getting in on it.
The people who visit this board, men and women alike, are here for advise, assistance, and maybe a bit of support in growing their hair properly. Follow the example of Madoc Pope. He has a great website and offers support if you just ask him. I won't give you the link to his website because I don't have his permission to do so but from reading the information he has given through his own experiences, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I did.

I think that's he's given us the link to his website enough times already! I just hope that Madoc isn't on some ego trip!

If he is on an ego trip, it sure doesn't come across....he seems to be a really level-headed, intelligent man with no personal agenda.
Personally, I enjoy talking to him. He's pretty cool.

No Rivalry Between Madoc and Alan?

Folks,
Hello and good day.
I am really reluctant to get into this at all. I have said my piece about this to Alan Michelson and really have nothing further to say to him. On another board, Outland, Alan put up photos of me from my site and did so without my permission - this despite them being copyright protected and there being a notice on my site stating such. He has since hidden behind "I didn't post them, I only linked them" which I feel is pretty lame to say the least. He has even started arguing with that board's owner, Victor, about whether this was right to do or free speech protected. At the least this seems intentionally confrontational and needlessly aggravating.
I have been on enough hyperboards for enough time to realize the dangers of a flame war. Not only does it sour the board in general, it is also far to easy for the same parties to sign back on to the board using different aliases and then try to attack the other person. This can get really ugly and also cause folks to doubt anything that gets posted because it might be a lie from one person using multiple aliases.
So, in general, I have learned to avoid flame wars. I state my position, being as rational as I can, and then let the board owner decide. That has happened in this case and I see no further reason to continue this thread. That is the primary reason I have not responded to Alan Michelson any further. There is no point to it. I would much rather discuss other things with other people.
Thank you,
Madoc Pope
I was MAD at MADoc.

I must admit that I am truly sorry for defaming Madoc by calling him Satan, Dracula, etc. Yes, sometimes I disagree with his views, and as a result, I was always getting Mad at Madoc!
It started in October, 1999, when I tried out Madoc's website. As everyone on the WWWboards know, Madoc always, always provides a link to his website. Anyhow, I read something there that suggests that he didn't like the "pedophilia", and I thought that he was speaking for the Religious Reich! Well, I was discussing with him about people's DIFFERENT tastes for different age groups.
Now, I know that you are not going to believe this, but believe-it-or-not, there was a time when I got along pretty well with Madoc! That happened in February, 2001, after he posted about the Naked CowBoy; so I E-mailed him the picture of the Naked Guitarist, and he thanked me for it as well as Willum & Elliot's site! Then Madoc asked me about myself as well as pictures!
In March, 2001, we once disagreed, this time about HIDEOUS Prison Regulations regarding forced haircuts (which he supported and I opposed along with Bill Choisser). In the end, he said that prisoners should be shorn so as to not be associated with long hairs. I thought that he was running with his PONY-tail between his legs (Madoc Pope is usually one of those ponytail-&-goatee combination types like the ones in that nightclub mentioned in a Visa credit-card commercial) to avoid the guilt association between longhairs and convicts, so he believes that convicts shouldn't be members of the longhair community by forcing his short-hair views on them! I thought that the reason was so outrageous that I was defaming him ever since, so Madoc, I apologize.
Madoc, if we had better communication, then we will work things out, and I will keep you informed if I ever want to use your website.

Alan & all,
I originally thought to write a point by point refutation of Alan's message for I believe him to be factually wrong on several things and to have completely misrepresented my views on many other things. Then I realized the futility of trying to do this. I also realized that trying to express my specific disagreements would only be adding grist for Alan's mill to continue this needless drama.
I have learned that the best thing to do in a case like this is not give a person intent on creating dissension anything further to fuel his fires with. With that in mind, this is the last post that I am putting up here in response to you Alan. We really do not have anything further to say to each other. It is apparent that you will misinterpret anything I state and that you will use it to create conflict where none would otherwise exist.
So, I would much rather be talking to other people about other things and that is just what I am going to do.
Sincerely,
Madoc Pope
WebMaster Victor Engle

VICTOR is the WebMaster (or MODERATOR) of the HyperBoards, not Madoc. (Madoc can go to Matt's Script Archives and set-up his own wwwBoards!) So I was discussing (not arguing) the rules of the Boards. It is important to understand and clarify the rules of the Boards; this is what the WebMaster is for! As long as ENGLE doesn't mind continuing the discussion in OutCast (or is it Outland?) and doesn't call it OffTopic, then it is OK to argue!
HyperBoard, CopyRight, Samson, &c.

Bill Choisser in Msg.#18002 mentions about an excellent web-site about copyright. Especially look at the issue of Implied Public Access.

Madoc actually defended a web-site called HairCut Reserves, which has been accused of using people's pictures without permission, including those of the "Samsons" (from the-light.com)! He said that it was "Free Speech" for HairCut Reserves to say what they want.
I was using my Free Speech to debate and UNDERSTAND the copyright issues of this HyperBoard. Remember, that this is VICTOR'S (not Madoc's) LongHair HyperBoard!

Alan: all right!
I apologize for assuming that Furr flames everyone. In the past, I used to perceive that Furr does that. However, I have hardly seen evidence that he does that to others (except to me, of course!)
Furr, explain what you mean by "Fair Use" provisions of copyright law in http://www.furr.org/
