Do ponytails ALWAYS damage hair?
Posted by The Kid on July 22, 2001 at 14:30:58: Previous Next
Hello. I'm growin' my hair long for the 2nd time. I know from my first time around that putting your hair in a tight ponytail when it's wet will damage the hair. I also found out that bands with metal parts and rubber add to this makings hairs fall out. So, now I'm waiting till my hair is dry and tying it with a large cloth elastic scrunchi.
My question is: can ponytails tied right cause split ends or damaged hair?

I heard that pulling it too tight can damage it, but if I were you I'd hold it a bit looser.
There's some bands called Scunci that don't have any metal parts. Check your local CVS Pharmacy for some.

check out my post on the links and products page, the best scrunchies I have ever found are sold on ebay and they will make them custom size for you, she does silk which is the easiest on your hair. I don't think you will find a pony tail damages your hair if you don't pull it too tight and if you don't stress it when you put on and take out the scrunchy. Hers are very easy to use! I love them! I have bought about 20 so far and plan to get more!

Best Scrunchies I've ever found! only problem is I want them all. I love her headbands too, but I'm more into the scrunchies.

How many have you got? At the latest count, including my last order, it's 19 for me...
