Recession costs my longhair

On June 25, all 400 employees in my (tele-communication) company were laid-off, including me. I lost my 6-digit salary too. I had grown my hair for more than 3 year and it was almost waist length. See the attached picture. When I were looking for a new job. My agent told me that it is impossible for me to find another high pay position if I decided to keep my long hair. When I talked to other recruiters, I got the same answer. With the responsibility to support my family, I cut off my hair 16 inches. Now I hair is about shoulder length. I do not whether I can grow the original length. I just received an order, which is even higher salary. However, my price for this recession is big and my heart is still bleeding.

So sorry to hear of the price of getting another job. Your hair was AMAZING! Just gorgeous. What a loss!

So now you have a new job, let it grow again - shoulder length is
*Still* long haired, I'd suspect you won't get much grief...

I won't do it...
I think the US Constitution grants us all the freedom to express our true selves. I've been offered jobs, but when they tell me to cut my hair, I say no way. You either want me for my skills or not at all.
After all, money can't by everything & all the money in the world wouldn't make me cut my hair.
Anywho....Great hair man. Grow it back & screw the "man."
Rock on....

Too bad you didn't think of selling the ponytail. The price you would have gotten for hair like that certainly would have helped with your economic problems.

It will grow back. Three years isn't that long. Take photos of it as it grows back.

Do you know of a long hair friendly place in the SF bay area (preferably Oakland/Berkeley area) where us long haired guys can get a trim or a nice cut? I don't want to go to a scissor happy butcher that thinks 1/4 inch means three inches.
Thanks

Wow, you have wonderful hair! My heart goes with you on losing that head of hair. You're my inspiration and since my hair-length is currently about the same as yours, let's grow it out together :)
Supportively,
Jin

With that much salary, I'd save half my income and keep looking for work at hair friendly companies. If you get an offer from a hair friendly company, switch jobs. If you don't find a job at a hair friendly company, you can save up enough money to become independently wealthy and won't need to work anymore. Sooner or later their discrimination against long hair would cost THEM a valuable employee. I could see it in the company newsletter: "His reason for leaving is so he can grow long hair".
