Aaaarrrgghhhh!!!
Posted by Saul on September 04, 2001 at 13:31:45:
Hey guys!
At New Year I had a shaved head. Now it's September and I suspect I am beginning to enter the dreaded Awkward Stage. No matter what I do, nothing keeps it under control. (I'll try uploading a photo for your amusement!)
This morning, I was going to go into town (London, in my case) and have the whole damn lot hacked off. Thankfully I read a few messages on here especially a few supportive one's to Headbanger and I feel a bit happier to keep on trying for a few more months. So, instead of getting the scissors out, I thought I'd just come on here let off a little steam because I am so tired of looking in the mirror and seeing a scarecrow stare back at me! OK, end of rant, thank you for your attention! Saul

Hi Saul, hang in there. Everyone goes through the same thing, looking at the mirror and feeling like cutting every hair posssible because we think it looks so horrible, but don't worry, it doesn't look as bad as you think (: and after a couple of years or so it will look great

: Don't judge your hair's behavior compared to the easy-to-take-care-of, stay-in-place short hair you used to have. You actually look great. Kinda bohemian.

Gee, that picture looks like it could have come from my photo album a while back.
Yes, you have reached the dreaded "awkward stage." You were wise to let off the steam here before making that fateful commitment.
Hang in there! Remember the "two-week rule" that has been posted here many times (when you think about cutting it - wait two weeks before making your final decision).
Support counts and this is the place to continue to get it.
Good luck!

London, huh? Don't give up, man! I'll be in London in January, and I hope to see you with hair a bit past your collar by then.
You look like you might have a similar problem to me. Your hair might be a bit fine, thus it doesn't have much weight to hold it down. Just deal with it for a little while, and your hair will start laying the way you want once it has some length and weight to it.
Fight the good fight!!

Welcome to Limey Town! It's kinda at the collar length now (on a good day).

Pain in the ass, isn't it? I've stopped shampooing everyday, however, and that seems to help matters a LOT!

Yeah, when the natural oils in your hair build up, it helps weigh it down a bit. I've actually heard that it's not good for ANYBODY to wash every day, because of the stripping of those oils that occurs when you do.
Can't wait to fight off the damn birds in Trafalger Square again...

Hello,
scary. It's like looking in the mirror!
I live up the road (relatively speaking) in Chelmsford, and walk into work past a number of hairdressers so I know the temptation to get it cut can be pretty strong.
I've had the get you hair cut, tell him to get his hair cut, is the Kevin Kegan look come back and numerous others for months. So I say stick in there.

Well, as there are only really goodlooking guys on this group, I guess it's not so surprising that we look alike! :-)
: So I say stick in there.
I will, mate, I will.
