why is my hair so horrible?

My hair is bad to say the least. extremely dry/damaged/puffy/frizzy/curly/wavy. i'm just wondering though if the stuff i did before contributed to this. See i have been growing out an undercut from spiked hair. When i used to spike it i would dye it, put tons of gel in it, and sometimes put glue in it to get the spikes to stay up. I never conditioned only used shampoo everyday. I'm sure all this stuff helped to screw up my hair right?? If i cut off the ends which are al REALLY REALLY split would this help? i'm considering growing the rest of my hair out now anyways so i wouldn't mind losing a bit of what i have on top to let it even out.

Just one man's opinion, here, but if I were you, I would go and have a good hairstylist cut your hair into a fairly generic hairstyle that gets all your hair closer to the same length, and then, don't get it cut anymore. Read the various hair care and how to grow your hair out essays recommended on this lists (I think Bill's are very good and have been following his advice). Stop the dying. Start conditioning. Use good shampoo, less often. And let your hair grow.
