to trim or not to trim...

That is the question. Currently, I have hair down past my shoulderblades...the problem is, that I used to have it cut about every three months - and had no split ends. I've heard everything from, don't cut it at all till you reach the length you want to...cut each split end off as you see them. Let me just say...I HATE split ends! I don't like the look of a guy with long hair that has split ends all over and it looks like he doesn't take care of it. Granted a "cut em as you see em." takes only three hrs or so...but hey...who has three hours to spare? As a history, I have very thick, brown hair with the classic "hyper curlies" on the backside. Can anyone let me know of a good (no dandruff please) conditioner? It's getting to be too much at this point and I don't think I want to cut it all off...but man...the preppy look is looking more and more attractive. HELP!
Thanks!

I simply loved the following product range. Each product has an ingredient known as "Triamine Complex", which is the basic protein that hair is made up of. I think that ingredient helps a great deal :)

Jin...I checked out the site, but there is no "order form." It also seems that they do not have a salon in my area or state. Minneapolis, MN. Any other suggestions? Just let me know.
Thanks Again!

I thought that the products should be well-distributed over the US? Hmm... if there isn't any within your state, you could perhaps search for a nearest possible one to your residence? Or is it still too far?
I personally got mine from a local salon near my home (I live in Singapore), and there are in fact 3 salons hosting Joico's products within 3km (from my home).
Alternatively, you could perhaps e-mail them or write to them for purchase enquiries if you do not find it too troublesome?
Sigh, I'm an idiot on this, so sorry that I couldn't really help much :((
Good luck in your search :)

No Problem Jin! There was not a location in my state though. I did e-mail the company so we'll see what they come up with. :-) Thanks again for your quick responses! One more question for you. What do you think of coloring? I know going blond from brown is a big no-no...but I've colored my hair a few times with a brown (just to give more sheene) It always seems to be much better as far as condition after...but not sure on the long-run view. Any thoughts?

The sad thing is... I've tried emailing them a few months ago and, for whatever reasons, I still haven't got a reply :( Maybe it's due to me asking them regarding some ingredients thingy, that they thought had no value in giving me a response. Who knows, they might get back to you since you're asking for their products?
Anyway, I'm a strong believer of having my hair in the most natural state. Hence, any coloring, perm, irons is a no-no (although at times, I was quite tempted to have mine straightened, hee...) :)

Trim.
The three month span you currently use is a good one, I to go about 3 months between trims. My hair is past my waist and have always gone to get it trimmed. The concept of trimming it to grow it longer sometimes confuses people who are trying to grow it out but you just have to have patience and remember to think long term...it will be much better in the long run if you get it trimmed regularly.
Split ends spell wrecked hair and if you are growing it long you MUST try to stay ahead of that.
