For those who post on this board, a few suggestions.
1. When quoting in a reply, delete extra text. Only quote the
important parts. (it is not necessary to quote the entire
message espcecially if it is long).
2. Prefix the quoted text with something like ">"
What you write for you own response should not be preceeded by
">" Use the ">" only for quoting messages.

The software for this web board uses a different system instead of arrows like are common in e-mail. It uses colons (:) instead. The reason is that arrows can be part of HTML tags and they may mess up the display of your message.
The software automatically puts the colons in, so you really don't have to put them in. Just don't put them in front of your own text, or this will confuse people reading your post! They will think your text is old stuff and they may not read it.
The system only puts colons in at the beginning of paragraphs, so if you answer someone else, always put your own responses in your own paragraphs, rather than adding your text onto the end of theirs.

Maybe other computers are different? I just delete the text and post my reply. In the forum, it get's indented, I figured that was good enough? Let me know if I'm performing a no no. Just my two cents.

Deleting the other guy's text is fine! Often some of us choose to leave it, though, rather than explaining what we're replying to, like I have done with your text here. When we leave the other guy's text in, we should leave the colons there, because they tip off readers that it's from the other post.
The reason the program puts ALL of the other guy's text there is, of course, that it is far easier for the guy replying to delete it if he doesn't want it, than to type it all in in case he does. It is there for that reason, NOT because the webmaster prefers you leave it all in and is thus offering such a preference as a default. Most web board operators (and web board visitors) would prefer you remove the other guy's text to the extent it is not relevant to your reply. If you see no need for any of it, by all means we'd all say, remove it all.

An additional suggestion:
keep posts as short as possible. Some of us
use pocket devices and wireless connections
to surf the web. Some use pocket pc,
(horror of horrors) Palms, and cell phones to
surf the web. Another suggestion is to set
your right margin at 60 for these devices.
