Hey all
What do you think about this kind of hair? This style, I know this is a wig. Can hair look like this? What about the side braid, how would you make a braid and keep it in for extended periods of time.
Thank you all in advance for repsonses and talk :)
Keep it long!

Because that is the character Legolas from LOTR movie. He is really bald with a slight mohawk under that wig.
I am interested to hear from the hair experts what they think abuot growing this kind of hair!

I think it looks great, as did all the long hair in LOTR :)

Um, well, yes and no. The hairstyle is definitly possible, and not overly complicated(having super-straight hair like Legolas's would make it much easier to do though). Unfortunately, however, it would probably be a bit time consuming to be practical as an "everyday" style. On a movie set, an actor has people to style his hair for him and make sure that it is always looking nice from scene-to-scene, and who can fix any style that might get a little messed up through the course of filming. Most people, of course, don't have that luxury, and it can get very frustrating to finally get your hair styled just the way you want it and then have it messed up by the wind(or any number of other things) just a little while later. A person could definitely wear this style in real life, but you may be dissapointed if you expect it to look exactly like it did in the movie.
The most noticable part of the style, the way the hair around his face is pulled back with the rest left loose and flowing, I have sometimes heard referred to as a "half-ponytail", and probably wouldn't take very long to do. Just pull back the desired amount of hair and make a ponytail the usual way(leaving the back/bottom are loose of course).
: What about the side braid, how would you make a braid......
For braids like Legolas has, you would simply gather a small section of hair near the hairline just below where you pulled back the hair that went into the half ponytail, and braid it as far down as you want it, then tuck it behind your ear(do it twice, once for each side).
Also, it doesn't seem to show up in these pictures very well, but from what i remember from the movie, it looked like a little more hair had been added to the original section as the braid went back(sort of like the way hair is added to a french braid, only on a much smaller scale). this probaly was to help it move back in the way that the stylist wanted, as well as keeping it behind the ears. I think you could still do the braids just fine without this added complication though. It's just a way of making them look a bit neater and helping them to stay in place.
:....and keep it in for extended periods of time.
well... just how long is an extended period of time? Do you mean more like twelve hours or two weeks? Although it is possible to leave the small braids in for a while if you really want to(personally, i wouldn't recommend it), you're going to need to undo the ponytail part relatively often so you can detangle, brush, and wash your hair(etc). for instance, if you wore your hair like this to work or school or wherever, by the end of the day you'll almost certainly need/want to take it out.
Please keep in mind that keeping hair tightly braided too close to scalp can be very damaging. As long as your careful not to make your braids to tight or leave the in to long at a time, i think you should be okay.
p.s. if you need instructions on the basics steps of braiding, let me know and i'll try to help as best i can

The "half ponytail" business is very easy, and is how I generally wear my hair. Has the nice look and feel of full loose hair, without it getting all over the place. You only have to restrain a VERY small amount of hair this way.
The braids wouldn't be hard to do either, although they might not be practical for day-to-day wear.
This all said, Legolas has a look that is to die for. Definately, my idea of the "ideal masculinity". The only thing lacking is a pair of dangle earrings, that would be the frosting on the cake!
