hot oil

I'm wondering about hot oil treatments. I decided to use vo5 on my hair this afternoon before washing. When my hair dried it was still dry and frizzy. Did I do something wrong? I used the vo5 hot oil moisturizing kind. I got it real hot and put it in my hair after getting my hair wet in the shower. Was my hair too wet? The stuff was almost too hot, could that have been a problem? then after about a minute I rinsed it out and shampooed as normal. Help! I don't know what to do for my dry hair. I thought this might be the answer but now I'm back to looking.

You're looking for PAUL MITCHELL SUPER CHARGED MOISTURIZER.
I had your problem, and after using it, along with the line's shampoo and conditioner, it works wonders. I am now convinced that if you love your hair you give it the best. No more 4 buck shampoos for me. Most of us should use only salon products.
Good growing.
ps. Aussie 3 minute miracle is a big hit with a lot of people. You can try it as well.

Is there a big difference in salon shampoos and store ones? I can't find any at the store that aren't really harsh, maybe salon ones are better?

I would recommend trying Nexxus Humectress conditioner. It it pretty pricey, but worth every penny. They sell it at most hair salons. I have hair down to my but and it is the only thing that works on tangles and leaves your hair shiny and takes the frizz out. The Nexxus Therapy shampoo is good too, but it does not lather real well. GOOD LUCK!

Karen, the reason Nexxus Therappe doesn't lather well is because it lacks the ingredients that promote lots of lather: detergents. Hooray!

Well, I don't know what the instructions say on the VO5 stuff, but if you put an oil treatment on your hair and then immediately shampoo, it's likely you simply cancelled the effects of the oil treatment. I suspect you'd have better luck if after leaving the oil on for a few minutes, you either simply rinsed your hair and then dried it, or as someone else suggested, use a very mild, non-detergent shampoo that won't strip away the oil you just applied. Oh, and by the way, you're not supposed to have that stuff so hot that it burns you or shocks the hair. You just warm it to make it slightly less viscous. Good luck.
