Longhair in Music???

What happened to longhair in music???? You hardly ever see any bands anymore that have longhair. The lead singer for creed, Nickelback, and Puddle of Mudd all have long hair. But they are just about the only ones of the newer generatation of rock. This weekend on MTV2 they had a Rock Hard weekend all day starting with an hour of G'n'R, then Ozzy, then it was two hours of clips from the old show Headbanger's Ball. Almost everybody on there had longhair. THe host had nice hair I thought but he cut his also Tommy Lee has cut his now. And Bon Jovi no longer has really long hair like he used to. Even all the fans had longhair back then. What happened to all of it???? Most of the Rock Bands nowadays like Staind, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, etc. all have short hair.
By the way how cool is Slash's hair. I love his hair. People have compared my hair to his although it is no where near long as his yet nor quite as curly. The whole G'n'R crew had nice longhair.

Today's melodic rock bands still have long hair. It's just that the mainstream pop world dictated by MTV is making the short haired thug punkass look the "in thing".
Not only is the hair shorter, but so is the musical talent. Most of today's rock bands have less talent than my garage band did back in the 70s. That's the real shame of it all.
Creed sucks. Plain and simple. Tremonti doesn't do solos because he can't. All of their guitar tabs for every song are virtually indentical. Now tht, my friends, is a total and complete lack of talent.
And I wouldn't call Stapp's hair long by any means.
ooooo burn

beautifully stated rokker. i wonder, will music ever be judged by mainstream society based on sound instead of trendy image again?
i agree completely. britany spears, christina whatsherface, sure they can sing, but i can sing just as good, im just lacking in the breast area lol. i prime example of this is lemmy from motorhead. look at that guy man he is the ugliest person ive ever seen, and motorhead RULES. And heavy metal bands with short hair. that makes me sick. unless your like kerry king or pat obrien and you shave your head cause you going bald, all metal guitarist should have some form of long hair. where do you think headbanging came from? i HATE to see little blond spiky headed kids like linkin park banging there heads around with no hair to support it. sorry, i know i got a little off topic, but ranting feels good, and im sure theres plenty of you that agree with me.

dude, i definitely agree with you. There are few things that are cooler to see than than a guy with great long hair headbanging.... and few things that look dumber than the little spikey-heads trying to headbang.
i once had the great pleasure of seeing one of my friends - a big heavy metal fan with hair down to his ass - demonstrate the "right way to headbang" (his words, not mine, although i do have to agree). this was in a room full of shorthaired wannabes doing their version of headbanging, and apparently he just got disgusted at watching them mess it up... he undid his ponytail and just let loose... WOW. :) that has got to be one of the coolest, sexiest things i've ever seen.
Tremonti never solos?

Have you ever listened to "Pity for a Dime" from My Own Prison? THAT'S a definite guitar solo with a blazing hedgehog lick at the end to boot! Sure, his hair could be nicer, but if you want to pick on guitar players, there are other, better targets.

Good examples of people who didn't really know why they had long hair. If they did they wouldn't have ditched it as soon as the trendy music scene changed. Also notice how the music has gotten worse as the hair has gotten shorter.

I agree 100%!
Limp Bizkit? They suck!
Creed? They suck!
Linkin Park? They suck!
Bring back the REAL rock bands that had real talent! I've heard enough of the simple three chord stuff with no solos and depressing lyrics! Bring back the hair and the FUN!!!!!
Seriously, I remember partying to the music about chicks, drinking, partying, sex, all the fun stuff while shaking my head and seeing my hair fly around. How can you party to music about how life sucks? And worse yet, how can you headbang without hair?
