Made me laugh!

Hi people, just thought i'd share something with you all that made me really laugh when I was surfing the net.
I found some "code of behaviour" documents from some American schools (I am English BTW). One of them, under "appearance guidlines" said boys must have hair cut short, with a fringe no longer than the eyebrows, and the back not touching the collar, no undercuts allowed, no hair colouring, etc, etc...
I guess you COULD argue that this is fair enough, rules are rules for some schools, but what made me REALLY laugh was that at the VERY TOP of the code of behaviour, one of the main, most IMPORTANT POINTS written was:
"We must respect each others individuality" (!!!!!)
Surely forcing boys to have short hair completely contradicts this!!! As an Englishman, this is damn funny, especially as there are no codes for hair appearance at our schools, except for dyed hair.
Hope this gave u all a laugh! Thank God schooldays are over for me!
Amen.

Have you been reading the appearance code of my school, because that's exactly the same guidlines I had to follow. And no, I can't say that I laughed. It sucked too much actually having to follow those stupid rules. And hell yeah thank god school is over.
hmm

That is pretty weird. We never had those kinds of rules in school here. Just about any hair style you can imagine, someone has got it. I have had long hair for a long time and ever since elementary ive seem people with blue hair, green, purple, any unnatural color, and nothing ever happened to them. Appearance is definately an expression of individuality, and the funniest part was where they had the individuality rule to contradict the whole thing.

thats what i always thought kinda funny, how americans have much stricter college appearences... and they dont really make sense. in the school i went to there was actually no written rules of hair dye. it was very 'unwritten'. basicly and bright colours were not really allowed, but my friend had purple highlights and no one ever mentioned it.
as for those rules u mentioned. it IS possible to get them changed. we got rules changed.... not hair ones but unfair rules nonetheless. might be worth a try. dont always give in to pressure like that, sometimes the only reason they r there is cos noones ever challenged them.

... if some of us are longhairs now because of the repression we had to endure at school. But I'm not going to be grateful!

i also wonder that sometimes. . . but then, i think, "no", i don't think so. but it is an interesting idea. but maybe i appreciate hair more now because from age five to age eighteen my hair had to be short. so, upon graduating i could appreciate it more than if i had it all along. i guess good things come out of bad things. (but i still would not say i am so much "grateful".)

Definitely I'm not growing my hair long because of repression, specially because here in Spain school rules are not against one's appearance but inmoral behaviours.
