My hair's gettin long enough for braiding, but besides Anikin Skywalker in Star Wars 2 I've never seen a guy with a single braid. Does anybody know of a site with pics of guys in braids? I'm thinkin' only 1 or 2 small diameter braids.

I've done a single braid several times. It helps that I have a wife and two daughters who can pull this off for me! What has worked best is to get one of them to braid my hair into a single braid down the back after I shower. I have found that with a little (very) gel on the sides to keep things tidy, a well done braid will stay in for a couple of days, even through sleeping on it! A badly or loosely done braid may not last more than an hour. I wore the braid to work once last spring. Got lot's of positive feedback (I am a teacher). The next day, I went in with the normal ponytail, and a male collegue actually asked where my braid was!
Give it a shot. BTW, I have seen this on men in several settings, but mostly at a Native American gathering here in my state (Alabama).

When u wore a braid to work, was it in a ponytail, outside a ponytail, or was all your hair down?

When I wore it to work, all my hair was braided into one single braid down the back--no loose hairs (with a little bit of gel to make sure). Robert

You have never seen a guy with a single braid? I often wear my mid-back length hair that way -- I am right now. My wife does it for me. I especially like it in the summer. I can't possibly do it myself, though. If there does exist some contraption that makes it easier to do by myself, I would like to know about it. She isn't always around when I want my hair braided!
Where do you live? Here in Santa Fe, about a quarter of the men have long hair, and many seem to wear it in a braid. It is the easiest way to have it once it gets to the middle of the back.
