Bad Perception

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about getting my hair long again, but then I think about the many people that view men with long hair as "bad", "grubby" or "stupid". I'm usually the type of person that doesn't care, within reason, what people think about me. However, I can't say it didn't bother me that I was unfortunately looked down upon just because I was a male with long hair.
What do you do when you know people are frowning on you because of your long hair? How do you deal with the unfortunate bad perception society has regarding men with long hair?
P.S. I just want to commend all the guys here who have the courage to maintain long hair. Hopefully, we'll see more of it in the future.
what do i do?

Well, I saw a doctor (MD) with a BEAUTIFUL, loooong, thick braid
going down his back...and not too many people looked down on him!
I respond with violence...

Just kidding. :)
I want people to like me, but I want to like myself more. I suppose it's a matter of priorities.

I kill them with kindness. Act very polite and helpful. That usually brings them around.

yeah i get that all the time but i really don't care what people think of it, i mean the good comments can be nice (especially the ones from women) but the ones from those close-minded people can be annoying so i'd just ignore them
all together, unfortunitly most of my family is that way but thats why i don't talk to most of them

I get judged all the time by adults because of the way I dress and wear my hair. At school it is different because I enjoy art and English so the teachers look apon me to be diverse and better adapted to art, history and English due to my long hair. My peers all have shaved or short hair and are always fighting or disturbing the class. So the teachers get on better with me. I don't know if this is because I have long hair or I am just different and more mature. Long hair is more accepted in art because it's a method of expressing your self.
I live in the UK and adults I know accept long hair whilst my friends and adults I don't know do not. It depends how old you are.

Well, now I just found out my brother-in-law wears his hair in a ponytail!! I'm on the verge of making that long-term committment to growing it out once again, but I want to get that assurance that I'll land a good job (I went back to school full-time) and be accepted in my law profession. I'm doing fairly average in school(in the top 55% of my class), so I don't have the great grades needed for people to overlook my image if I do grow it out again. I just don't know what to do...
