Well, I used to have shoulder-length years back so I
am not 'new' to long hair.
Then for years I wore it somewhere between long and short...if you can
picture that.
8 months ago I stopped getting cuts and it has been growing freely
ever since.
The back reaches the tops of the shoulders, while the front will
take a little longer to catch up!

i decided to grow mine around January,but unfortunitly i made that decision about 2 weeks AFTER i had a REALLY short Buzzcut so it looks more like 5 or 6 months than 7 months, is that normal?
i can't believe i ever actually WANTED a buzzcut lol
that's how my hair was for the past 3 years

: take a little longer to catch up!4 years ago, cut my waist length to a longish 'conservative' look. 3 years ago I decided to grow it back and now its 4" from my waist (I'm 6'3", 36 years old). My goal is tailbone length and NEVER cut it short again.

1. I've been growing it out since the middle of March. I had long hair several years ago, but cut it when I joined the Navy in 1997. After several months of contemplation, I decided in the spring to hold the course for two years and see how it looked then.
2. It's growing at different speeds, but my bangs are about 4 inches long. I keep the whole mess pushed back and held in place with a small amount of gel that combs out easily at night. All the usual angst about the "awkward phase" aside, it doens't look half-bad.
I decided to grow my hair out for a couple of reasons. First, I miss having longer hair, and I miss how good I think I look with it. Second, I live in a fairly high concentration of gay men, most of whom seem hell-bent on chopping/shaving/slaving their way into a very narrow range of appearance. I have always been intensely leery of conformity, and I can think of no better way to express my disapproval of body fascism than to be comfortable in my own less-than-perfect form, and differing from the herd with confidence.

For me:
1. I've wanted long hair most of my life, but because of my job it wasn't possible til all that changed about 2 1/2 years ago, which is when I had my last (I hope forever) haircut.
2. My hair was the typical, business man length then. Now about 3" below my shoulder--Love IT!!
p.s. I live in Monument Beach, about 8 miles from where you used to summer

Well, i think ive been growing it about 9 months or so from between 1 or 2 inches of hair. Im at about 5.5 in.

When: I decided to grow my hair long back in April, but my last haircut was in early March. So I guess I've been growing since March. In my last haircut, my bangs didn't reach my eyebrows, even when pulled down.
How long: Bangs are over 6 inches, which means that they reach my bottom lip when pulled down. The back reaches that little poke-out bone (don't remember what it's called, lol) when pulled down. Don't know how many inches that is.

Growing since ~ March 2001 from a #1 shaved head. I've only had 2 trims during this time. When pulled straight, my bangs reach just below my bottom lip. Almost out of the awkward stage :D

I forgot to mention that I had a trim back in May, which I regret. I suppose there was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch taken off. I wasn't getting a trim for the sake of getting a trim; my mother insisted that I had to get my hair 'neatened up', and as my hair was looking kind of messy, I consented. Well, the trim didn't help -- if anything, it made it worse. And all I had to do in the first place was tuck some hair behind my ears, and that would've fixed the problem. But in any case, I've more than made up for the length I lost, although I can never make up for the time. =\ Oh well.

I've been growing mine for a little over 8 months now. (i decided that december the first is going to be my official haircut independance day :) )
Its about six inches all round taday, according to the ruler. I wear it parted down the middle, and comb it back, like scott from creed. I use a little frizz ease on the bangs to stop em curling to much and a little gel. Also plenty of leave in conditioner on the ends.

i always wore my hair longish... decided to just grow (no trims) in '95. currently my hair is waist length... the longest fallout was 29 inches.

Started growing hair long in about 1975 or '76. I had the typical 70s haircut before that. Think Danny Partridge on Partridge Family. Yeah, that ugly! Only my hair is brown, not red.
Been as long as waist length. It's currently about 1/2 way down my back. No bangs, hair is long all over.

2) How Long: Had several trims and cuts in the interim. My last haircut to a "moderate" length (just overlapping my shirt collar) was in '98. My last trim was around 14 months ago, and then I trimmed it shorter than my barber advised. My current length is almost midback when left loose, and a couple of inches short of waist when stretched. (The front when brought forward is half an inch past the trouser waist band) Which makes me mad to think that it may have been below waist length by now if I had listened to my barber.

Ok, here goes:
1) When: started in 1990, grew it out to a mullet (yeah, I know), then lived with that for about 10 years. Got trimmed by my sister in Feb 2001. Started growing everything out. The front and sides were still a little shorter than the rear, but still made a nice tail. Then, recently, had some family issues and wound up losing the rear, so everything was the same length. For about a month it was rather hard to wear a ponytail, but somewhere around mid-May, it was possible again. Now have a tail that's almost normal for me.
2) I'd say about 6-7" long, measured from the hair tie to the end of the tail. Probably about 12-13" total, measured from the forehead back.
