Trimming my hair at 12 months...

I know...I know...No trims! but I've got to trim my hair up a little because I'm applying for jobs and my appearance will be very important. Besides I'm having tangling problems because of all the damaged ends. I've grown my hair for a year from a shaved head, and it almost reaches my chin. Its very flippy in back, but it hangs well onto my shoulder. I'm planning on having the barber trimming the front as little as possible while removing the damaged parts, and taking a few inches off the back. My goal is a one lenght ponytail so I'll try to have him even it up. My question is do you have any suggestions on the way I should ask him to cut it. I trust the stylist alot so that shouldn't be an issue. While working I plan to gel the whole thing straight back. Let me know what you think
Thanks
Evan

gee...I dont know much about trimming hair for evening out
a ponytail but
once I saw somebody do it USING THIS METHOD:
The hair was brushed back and then tied into a ponytail which
was then subjected to more brushing.
The Tail was then trimmed EVENLY AS A TAIL.
That may be the only way to do it IF your intention
is to have it EVENED OUT as a TAIL.
Think carefully BEFORE cutting off INCHES!!!
Good Luck

Skip[ the barber and find a GOOD salon ands a stylist that has long hair him/herself and tell them just what you said here, and yes trims are good for your hair, no matter what is preached on this board
T
Paying for them is also good, right?

Trims are good and have a reason when you have split ends. Period.
How much hair and money is it worth to get frequent unecessary trims?
Really, there are people who less than a trim a year. Some others haven't trimmed in years, they just snip off their split ends. Once your hair is the desired length trim whenever it grows in excess, but at 12 months, on my own experience, trimming is BAD.

If your hair looks OK now in a tail, I wouldn't trim it at this stage.
