i am 19 years old and i just love growing my hair long. i have been growing it for the past 10 months from what was a buzzcut, my hair are 6.5 inches right now, somwhow i feel that they are grwing very slowly or is it just me getting impatient. moreover my hair were very thick earlier but now they seem to be getting pretty thin and along with it i also seem to lose about 4-5 hair every time i comb. i consulted a dermatologist who said it was normal and if i wanted to stop the hair fall i should wear it short, but that is the last thing i want to do. please suggest ways by which i can reduce th falling of my hair and strenghthen the roots of my hair in order to make it more voulminious. also how long do you think it would take for my hair to reach 9 inches which is the minimum length required to tie a ponytail.for the moment though does combing your hair down and pulling the bangs over the ears affect gowth rate or should i comb it back. also what cn i do to fasten my hair growth.
Don't worry about it homey

I have hairs that fall out but that's with everyone who has/is growing out long hair. Nothing to worry about. I'd say to make it a lot nicer just follow hair tips on internet sites. A good shampoo/conditioner can help you get that volume. I believe hair gets thinner as well when it starts to grow and continues.
You can't fasten hair growth though I'm hearing of shampoos that will be able to do that. For now just relax and DON'T BE IMPATIENT!!! That will just make things more stressful. Enjoy what you have now and sooner or later you'll have the results you want.

6.5 inches from a buzz cut in 10 months is VERY fast growth, the average would be about 5 inches. If you aren't measuring it wrong and it really is growing that fast that is great.

I had the same problem. My hair (when short) appeared VERY thick, but it is now VERY thin, and my hairline is receding. I, too, went to a dermatologist, who had nothing better to do than tug my hair (while insulting me) and imply that my hair was only thin because I didn't know how to care for it. He suggested that I get a crew cut, although he said that wouldn't help the problem any, he was just opposed to the hair. Just goes to show you that a degree doesn't mean an open mind.
