Starting out

Hi. Having succumbed to parental pressures, I've always had my hair cut in short, trendy styles (Caesar, for instance). I now want to grow my hair out. Since a Caesar cut allows for some buzzed hair to protrude along the back of one's head (almost to the neck), does this mean that if I just let my hair grow out, I'll end up with a mullet (seeing as how my hair at the front would not go down as far as the hair at the back of my head)? I'm just concerned: I mean, the average buzzed haircut allows for a little hair to stay below where the hair on top ends... How are people to let their hair grow without getting a mullet look with more hair coming out at the back than at the front and sides?

The difference between the lengths of the different parts of your hair will soon become unimportant as you grow it. The biggest change will be when it first starts to look as though you've been too busy to cut it, before it starts to look as though you are growing it deliberately. Once it gets to that length, it willbe obvious that it isn' a mullet.
Good luck and happy growing

Don't worry at all about the mullet look. Just focus on the ultimate goal and soon those mullet like days will be a memory. Long hair is an accomplishment that comes with some trials and troubles. But that is what makes you appreciate your hair once you make it to the goal. Amongst a multitude of other things like the feel of the wind blowing through it, the feel of it laying on you back, etc. etc. Good Luck, man. Just cast your worries aside and let the adventure begin! PEACE!
