Hi Y’all,
Just posted new pics showing my hairpiece after washing it for the first time on the weekend. Styled it so it doesn’t have as much of an inside curve. I’m in love with the thing; really, really looks real! Sure beats the egg-head. Feel like a teenager again….WOW.
By the way found this keen site where you can post up to 100 pics.

Reply: As I said to Steve P a couple of week ago, do NOT go for a transplant. Thought of this myself a couple of years back, until I met an old friend I hadn't seen in about 20 years. He had had a transplant done. It showed real bad. The skin where he had had the graft done was white, I mean, like regular paper and the skin around the graft was the Light tan color of normal skin. The contrast was just too obvious. He also said the whole thing was extremely painful and it was still sensitive after 2 years, and you're right it's dam expensive. For baldies, a hair piece is the way to go... by a long shot.
Also, if one of your grandfathers was bald, there's a chance you'll inherit the gene too. And if you are destined to become bald, there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING you can do to prevent the hair from falling out.

Funny that you should ask. I thought about that the day I got this new hairpiece. I could get a 24 incher in a couple of months. However, I would probably not want to wear this new one any longer. It did cost a lot (1,000US) and I feel i'd have wasted my money. So I will be patient and wait till the hair I have left on the back of my head grows out long enough to warrant the purchase of a new longer hairpiece. I plan for that to happen in about a year when I buy a 16 incher and a 24 incher one year after that.
Regards.

Just curious, but if you spent that much money, and I mean that is A LOT of money!, why didn't you get the 24" piece in the 1st place?
Good question

Reply: This is indeed a very good question. Don't forget, this not a wig. The hairpiece is meant to cover or sort of "replace" the hair I am missing on top. It complements and blends with the hair I already have in the back. So the length has to be consistant with my hair length in the back. As my real hair grows, I will have to get longer ones made i.e. a 16 incher in about year and a 24 incher in about 2 years.Believe me it's worth the money. Besides, I can afford it.

Looks nice!
I'm sure you've answered this before, but I was unable to find where:
Where would someone go to find a hairpiece such as that?
I'm not bald yet, but I'm getting closer by the day, so I'm always looking for ideas.
Thanks!

Reply; If you lived here in Montreal, I'd refer you to the Salon where I got my hairpiece. They specialize in this sort of thing and they have an excellent reputatation. They even had rave reviews in the local newspapers. They even have a website:
http://www.lesjumelles.com/english.htm
Les Jumelles means The Twins as the 2 owners are identical twins. You cant say who is who..
The only thing I can suggest is that you look in your local Yellow Pages under Wigs or Hair whatever. It's like buying a car. Do plenty of shopping and ask a lot of questions. Good luck in your search.

Great look! I enjoy wearing a few wigs of similar style--the "bob" cut. I have always felt it is a neat style and wish more guys would wear it.

Do you wear wigs because you're "out of hair" too?

In Reply to: Question posted by Marc A on December 16, 2002 at 20:23:17:
Not yet but starting to thin in spite of Propecia and Rogaine. My hair is about mid-back length, but I enjoy other lengths, styles and colors. I like the bob cut and lately am into red (I have some in colors and styles of Gillian Anderson [Scully on X-Files]). I share this with others, I suspect, since there are sites devoted to long hair and to the bob cut in particular. It seems odd that some of us are turned on by both very long hair and the relatively short bob.
Anyway, I like it and you wear your piece well. Take no offense at the remarks made by that moron--if all of us could grow the hair we want, and society would permit us to wear it in the length and stye we desire, then all would be well. Even those of us lucky enough to still have long hair (and "get away with it" may also enjoy the variety of styles, lengths and colors afforded by wigs.
Mine are less expensive (~$250 US), but "off the shelf." I get them at a regional (national??) chain called Chic (used to be Chic Wigs but now Chic Boutique, I think). You pay more than online but you know it fits, and you can get a cheap thrill at trying many on.
By the way, I think the really long one pictured on you wears well, too! I think it is cool you and yours can do this and enjoy it! Are you "open" with friends and family about it (I presume..since it is a big change for you!)? If so I hope you can enjoy wearing different wigs on different occasions.

some people may not be as lucky as you, and don't feel like being bald. i think without the glasses, he looks great. besides, why shouldn't he have the look he wants-makes him look a lot younger, better looking, and he's enjoying it. your point of view is what's terrifying. and you were rude.

Thanks for backing me up, rc.I don't take his post very seriously. (See my reply to him). Some people will like it, others won't; I've already been through this with some of my relatives. All long hairs have been through this. Some old farts and old bags will always think long hair looks bad on guys. That's life, Can't please everyone.
So if you can't please everyone ....

"So, you got to please yourself!"--(the late) Ricky Nelson, 'Garden Party' (1981). And, of course, Rick's twins, Matthew and Gunnar grew out fantastic long blond hair when they hit their peak in singing.

Reply: Oh I DO accept that I'm bald! I just don't want to show it any more! Why should I deprive myself of a the hairpiece since it looks exactly as though it was my own hair??? Life is meant to be enjoyed.
If you lost a leg in an accident, would you resign yourself to a wheelchair for the rest of your life or would you get an artificial leg to help you get around (if you can afford it). Material to think about....
TERRIFYING.... what a superlative! It's that bad, eh. Funny you're the only one. Maybe you come from another planet.

How do you secure the piece (especially that waist length one) so it doesn't shift or come off. I like wigs too, but always feel insecure wearing them, for fear of an "accident".

Reply: With special anti-allergic 2 way tape that you buy in wig shops or at hair stylists speializing in hair pieces. My wife and I have a collection of wigs so we know all about them. If the cap is on tight enough, there is very little risk of an accident. I must say however that this hair piece looks much more authentic than any wig I've seen hence the higher price. Worth every cent!

I assume that the tape would only work on bare skin. I am a little thin on top, but not bald, so I am afraid that tape would pull out any hair that I do have.

Good point; I forgot to mention that the tape is only put in front. The tape bonds a microthin piece of plastic on the front of the hairpiece to the forehead, and indeed I have to shave that area every 2 to 3 days. I also forgot to mention that the sides and back have 4 retainer clips that grasp my hair just where it starts to thin out.
