It seems that many guys who grow their hair long fear about the puplic opinion.
If someone think long hair is gay. He should know that, if he take a look at tv news about gay events, or if he take a walk through a gay area of a big city (if he fear to do so, he's very suspicious... anyway)
He would be aware that gays have more thant 99% of the time, short hairs and are not effeminated at all.
For me, long hairs is more a sign that the person is an artist, not a gay. But again, for certain, be an artist is gay :-/ ... bullshit
But, that the opinion of a streight guy who grow his air, not the one of the public. That are too often, not aware of that.
another subject: I have celtic (gallo) blood, and I want to look like one and to be recognised as. So I grow my hair in a ponytail witch start to be resonable. I want it to shoulders. I wonder if someone could give me his opinion on that. what lenght I should grow them or any other opinion.

I don't think it's so much that it's associated with homosexuality as it is associated with femininity, since traditionally the "socially acceptable" way is for women to have long hair, and men to have short hair.

The Celts of Gaul in the time of the Romans grew their hair long and usually had long mustaches as well. Sometimes they wore it in braids which could be quite elaborate as you may see in pictures of scandinavian women's styles today. more often it was let to grow more or less wild. This of course was total oposite of what the Romans considered as ideal-short military cut with or without full beard. Large bushy mustaches are a distinctly Celtic style and Beards are not. Also note that the Celtic Druids of both the continent as well as Britain and Ireland wore long hair but in a manse. This would apear quite odd today. they would shave a hairline that would go over the center of the top of their head from ear to ear. untrimmed behind the line and shaved smooth forward of it. This practice stopped with the coming of Christianity to Celtic lands. This is all I know about ancient Celtic hair styles
