what if you start balding?

I am curious about how people will react if they start not only getting high hairline but start losing the battle on the top of head like maybe members of your family? I will probably go the shaved headed route as I had it in the military and that is my 2nd fav look.

I'd probably keep it long for awhile and wear hats and bandanas to cover it up. But I'd probably eventually shave it. Since no one in my family is bald,I hope I never have to deal with it.

A little board indigestion. This post went with a thread a little below.

I would go to a doctor...use propecia, get hair transplants, whatever it took to keep from going bald...its just not an option (crosses fingers)

I have been bald on top for almost fifteen years, but I have not cut any of the rest of my hair for over ten years. The terminal length is not as good as I would like, but I would never go down the shaved head route. Most people seem to notice the length more than the absence of hair on top.
The current advice from the 'experts' is to disguise baldness by shaving the head, but as with anything else, do what is right for you.

Well Well. My favorite topic on this board. Here we go again. Most regulars know my story.
If there’s someone who knows about baldness, it’s me. I started losing it on top about 15 years ago. It didn’t really bother me up until last year when it started making me look really old. Every time I looked at myself in the mirror, I wanted to scream. Then my girlfriend suggested I get a hairpiece, which I did. Sure beats the egghead look! Worth every cent of the $1,500 CDN ($1000 US) I paid for it (“installation” included) It is held in place by 3 strips of 2 way tape on the front and 4 clips on the sides & back. No seams at the part the way a wig would show. The cap is the thickness of onion paper yet very resistant. It’s so thin I can see my hand through the piece. The cap (made to measure for me) only covers the bald spot on the top of my head but thick 8 inch strands of hair stick out of it. It adds to the hair I already have. This is why it is different from a wig.
Wore it to work right the next day. Was a nervous wreck before coming in. All the gals loved it, all positive comments. Lots of questions; they got all the answers. Only one male co-worker said it made me look good & younger. No comments from any other guys except one who said in a semi-mocking tone that it was “drastic”. As I said before, I don’t really care what the guys think. I’m enjoying every minute of this. I would never consider shaving my head. I’d look MUCH older.
I’ve said this before: I do NOT recommend a transplant for anyone. Thought of this myself a couple of years back, until I met an old friend I hadn't seen in about 20 years. He had had a transplant done. It showed real bad. The skin where he had had the graft was white, I mean like regular paper and the skin around the graft was the Light tan color of normal skin. He also said the whole thing was extremely painful and it was still sensitive after 2 years.
Anyone wanting additional info can e-mail me personally.

I will never ever go and keep just long hair in my back as although I love long hair, I like it all down to same length in all directions. I think a balding look while keeping it long in back is worse than the mullet. To each their own though and thanks for your opinions.
