what is the point of having longhair? Im not judging or saying its wrong. I have long hair myself but why do we want it. Why stress ourselves with it. i remember when i had short hair and everything was fine. Just wake up gel it fast and be on my way. Can someone explain. I dont plan on cutting my hair anytime soon.
I just like the look personally (nt)

That sort of question has been asked here many times, I suggest browsing through the archives for tons of good replies.

Why not, indeed.
Why go and get your hair cut off, every month? Why go through the effort and expense of using gels and waxes on your hair, to make it stick or up, or lie flat?
Somethings don't need a reason. Why do i have my hair long? "Because". I really don't know why i wanted longhair, i don't know why i keep it long, and i haven't a clue why i want it longer still(i don't have a goal). I think i look better with longhair, and i also think people(ladies especially :)) take more notice of me because of the hair... But those aren't rock solid reasons. I just don't know why i grow it, and i don't care either.

Why do I have long hair? Because I want to. Because it is
there. I have it for the same reason I climb mountians.
I also like the way it looks. And I like the way it feels.
Also Short hair is so boring.

Because my identity demands it. I've tried short hair and hated it. I don't get stressed about it though. It just is...

To be perfectly honest - I found that the stress factor involved in going to the Barber Shop every month (to get yet another bad haircut) combined with the stress of having to style it with gel far outweighed the effort required to maintain my mid-back length hair now.
Long hair past the awkward stage is easy. Plus, it feels right and looks good!

Hi Franklin (the 3rd),
I have long hair because...
... I love the fragrance of my freshly washed hair
... I love the softness of my hair brushing my neck, shoulders, arms and hopefully, thighs, knees and calves
... I love the shine exuded by it under the light
... I love the feeling of wind blowing through it
... I love the sensual feel of hair falling in front of my face
... I love the compliments by strangers saying, "Hey, your hair is soooo thick and beautiful."
... I love seeing people close to me finally decide to grow their hair long because they saw how nice mine is
... I love the process of shampooing
... I love the process of conditioning
... I love the process of clarifying
... I love the process of waiting for my hair to dry
... I love to ponytail it
... I love to barette clip it
... I love to braid it
... I (would) love to bun it
... (In short) I love taking care of it
... I love the confused look people have when I go to the guy's room with my hair loose and ...
... I love to answer questions like, "Hey man, why IN THE WORLD would you like to grow your hair long?"
'Cos it's within me :))
Cheers,
Jin

Just like anything else, enjoyment is in the eye of the beholder
I have a sailboat, and love sailing. I like having all the lines and sails to tweak and tune the boat. It's great not having to listen to an engine while under way, or having to feed one. Many people I know though are always asking me why on earth I would want to deal with all those lines that are a pain in the butt, and having to constantly adjust things to make it work.
Some of my friends actually think it is totally odd that I enjoy doing yardwork. As for me, I think it's a great way to get excersise, relieve stress, and make my house look good. I also get enjoyment in watching my labor grow healthy, beautiful plants. I'm constantly planting, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, watering, etc. I get all sorts of complements about my yard looking good, followed by "why".
People are always asking me why I drive around such old cars all the time. To me, I enjoy taking a saturday to tweak and tune them up, and to repair little glitches. I have also found out that buying $100 a month in parts from the local NAPA is more than enough to keep a car running breakdown-free, and PAYMENT FREE! Others though think it is weird that I would possibly enjoy spending an evening in the garage getting dirty fighting an old enngine.

the rewards are worth the effort!

I get the hair question too.. Yes, it takes a bit longer to wash and comb out, and I must buy more hair care products, but like many others have mentioned on here...not only is the care and feeding of the hair enjoyable to most of us here...the results are just as enjoyable!
Why coca and not pepsi?

Why wearing a blue T-Shirt instead of a red one?

because it's whats Natural, and it feels great
and actually it's LESS mantinence then short hair is to me because i have the type of hair that if it's more then a fraction of an inch annd dosent have enough weight to hold it down it just sticks STRAIGHT UP
also i don't believe in altering your body, because everything is made the way it is for a reason by God
(and that incules hair and beard)

Some people just look better with long hair than short hair. Plus I also think short hair is kinda annoying. You gotta go to the barber shop every 2-4 weeks because what looked good when u had a fresh haircut, looks bad in 2 or 3 weeks, especially if some sort of buzz is involved. That also equals to a lot of money. This may also equal more money than u would spend for shampoo and conditioner for your long hair. Plus it is also good to stand out from the pack with the boring short hair. All the good short hair hair styles are played out and the ones that aren't ...... are a little too extreme. However I don't agree with the whole "natural" thing. If you want natural: never cut ur hair, never cut ur finger or toe nails, don't shower, never shave, and speak cavemen.

I just like the way I look with it (it makes me feel "whole", strangely enough) and the attention I get from the opposite sex. Taking care of it can be a nuissance and I don't particularly like it when I get a mouthful of hair while wolfing down a steak. But I can deal with those issues and other then that I don't really think about it THAT much. Important message: the hair won't come off any time soon.
