Just found this - maybe signifies a change of stylist attitudes, or at least awareness??

LONG ON IDEAS

The typical stylist's response to waist-length hair? Cut it off! But it's time to re-think your attitude. Creativity and trust go a long way with this client.

If you think women who have long hair are not good salon candidates or that they aren't open to new ideas, think again.
The days of long-haired women having a friend occasionally trim their ends are over. Sure, they insist on maintaining their length, but they also want movement and volume, conditioning treatments, hair color, special occasion styles, suggestions for growing their hair longer, even smoothing and straightening services-if they're assured these treatments will leave their hair in tiptop shape.
Take Shari, a New York City-based marketing professional who has mid-back length hair. When her $100-a cut stylist of seven years did a chop job on her bangs and took exception to her protests, Shari began a search for a new stylist, with a long list of must-haves.
While she was enamored with dry cutting and at first sought a "dry-cutting specialist," she soon realized there was something else she wanted even more.
"Bottom line, I want someone good who I can trust and use for years to come," says Shari. "Once I realized this, I decided I should not limit my options by insisting on dry cutting. I tried splurging for a top name cutter at $300. While he cut my hair very nicely, it was not worth the money and the three-week wait to see him. I'd prefer a stylist that's about $100." Can you handle the job?
