Neglecting to Trim

I usually trim the ends of my hair once every two to three months. What happens if I don't trim them for a REALLY long time? Will they eventually straighten out or something? Or will they just get more and more unruly? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but, hey, you have to ask questions to learn things.

Opinions and practices as far as routine trims go vary from guy to guy here at the board. Most here don't get trims, but a few do. I myself don't get trims at all. The only way I will get a trim anytime in the next two years is if my hair produces any definete sightfull damage such as excessive split ends. After around two years I will get my hair straightned out cause it so varied in lengths.
A few split ends here and there are not a threat by any means in my book. They are no different to me than the 40 to 100 hairs a person looses every day anyway.
Two to three months apart for trims isn't too bad if you only take off a very minimum of length. But as far as I am concerned, no trims is the best if you take good care of your hair and are very gentle with it. Doing this, damage should be a rare thing if at all. Hope this helps. Peace!

Nothing! Hair gets longer, it gets straighter, and more under control. just take care of it as it grows!

It won't cause much of a problem. Some of it depends on how long your hair is. The longer it gets the longer it's been around and may need an occasional, slight trim to keep it looking nice.
Nowdays as longhair on men is known by most people, about the only real criticism that holds any water is that guys with long hair are seen wearing it scraggley, fried and generally at a point that it seems to long for them to be properly taking care of it. As we know it can be any length and still look nice and be easily cared for.
Of course as you begin growing it you will not need to bother with trims that much (many of the guys here are at that point) but give it a few years and you will really start tuning into the specific needs that your hair calls for.
Well said...

That is how I see it. I don't plan on getting anything done to my hair as far as trims untill I get to around lower neck level or lower. I figure once I have accomplished that length, it won't bother me to loose around an 1/8 to 1/4 inch to straighten it out and remedie any split or damaged hairs. But if I were to do it now the loss would be much more noticeable and rather devastating, if you will. I asked a salonist the other day to have a look at my hair and tell me if it looked damaged or split at all and she said my hair looked really healthy, so I am quite satisfied at this point. Peace!
