GEL for the wet look

Well...
I've been playing around with several gels for a while,
and I've finally found a winning combination.
For around $3 a bottle, Pro-Vitamin FX Straightening Gel,
with maximum hold, tends to leave a straightened out sleek look.
This is a no-name brand, but you can get it at your local pharmacy or online.
I then touch up certain parts of my hair with L'Oreal Melting gel,
which others have recommended as well... it adds some shine.
For maximum results, wet hair with water, grap a dollop of FX gel and begin at the scalp, and then move your fingers throughout the hair. Don't start at the tips; that ruins your hair because your hair grain goes from the root to the tip, not the other way around. (take a look at a microscopic picture of a hair someday and you'll see what i mean)
Your mileage with these products may vary.
Hope this helps those wishing to look like Italian football/soccer players.
NEED for GEL is something that...

NEED for GEL is something that constantly CHANGES...
Now that my hair is longer, I use about the same amount of gel BUT
because there is more hair, the effects are less noticeable and softer.
LONGer hairs stick better to each other so a lot of gel is not necessary. You will notice these changes over time.
NOW the main function of the gels is to keep hair shiny & moist
and to add a bit of control.
MELTing gel is a fine gel because you can use a little or a lot and get different results.
The very STIFF gels are great with hair that is not quite long
but it should be washed out daily. If not
your hair may eventually feel dry & thick & become unruly...
so my advice is to start FRESH daily if you use gels.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the board and
Good Luck!

Hey genetic disaster:
How about a pic of that gelled hair? Love to see what it looks like.
