i think...i'm going to have to cut it

Well, im going into my senior year of high school, and what goes along with that is taking a senior school picture. But before i can take that picture i am going to have to cut my hair. If i dont cut it, my father is going to cut me off from the internet and the internet is more important than my hair. It is not very long, i am in the beginning of the awkward phase (when its stretched its at the top of my eyes), so cutting it now will not be that big of a loss. Any suggestions as to what type of hair cut i should get?

Yeah, just get a couple of millimeters taken off. Whatever is the least the barber will do. They won't mind, as they are making their money for almost nothing. Your dad will probably go ballistic, but you can say with a (nearly) straight face that you had it cut. It worked with my parents when I was a teenager, although getting it cut so often makes it hard to really grow it. Nobody ever said I had to go back and have another hair cut, though.

If you cut now, its about as good as starting from scratch. I consider that a loss in the sense of opportunity since its the equivalent of never even lining up at the start line in a race. I guess never having long hair beats never being able to cross the threshold that is the 4-month mark...
You may be a senior, but you do not NEED to take any pictures if you don't feel like doing so. I didn't, even though I was still letting my deadbeat father bully me into (Among other things) sticking with short, conservative, dorky cuts. I was so sick of highschool and couldn't wait to get through with all the rubbish that goes with it (atleast in my experience) that I stopped caring about superficial things like that. I didn't even attend the graduation ceremony because I felt that I'd be happier if I celebrated in the company of people who I could actually relate to and didn't hold grudges against. Anyway, I'm not sure that kind of autonomy is for you, but keep this in mind: You're primarily in school to learn. Will growing your hair out interfere with your ability to learn in any way? In my case, it would've, as my school was rididulously strict and would not tolerate hats or any sort of noticible accessories for the head. As such, it would have been a real struggle for me to survive the early awkward stages if I had no practical means of keeping hair out of my face. I would like to know how you expect to deal with such circumstance if your school holds a similar policy.

Thanks guys, i'm not going to get a buzz cut, but i definatly have to have it trimmed a little bit out of respect to my parents. As much as i dont want to, this is the last time i will ever have to cut my hair for a school picture. So i figure i might as well do it because by doing it i will not piss off my dad, keep the internet, and make my mother happy. My parents said that after i have this picture it really doesnt matter how long my hair is. I think ill only get it cut an inch so i dont look unkempt and so it'll grow back in 2 months.

YOu have a very mature attitude, and I, for one, commend you for having respect for your parents and a wish to show them that respect. A competent stylist should be able to give you a nice, tidy shape without sacrificing too much length. You have the rest of your life to grow your hair long. Cheers to you, and congratulations on reaching your senior year.

That depends on what type of a statement you want to make, and what type of relationship you have with your parents. You probably know what your dad expects, and if you want to keep the relationship on an even keel, get what he wants. If you want to make a statement, either get a very light trim, or go all the way and shave every hair off your head. You have to decide what you want to say here and what you are willing to accept as consequences.
i feel ya on this one!

Your hair is more important than the web. You can always go to cybercafés for the web. Some libraries even offer free service
