I think i screwed up :-/

Hey all! Im 17 and i've been trying to grow my hair for 10 months now. I got two "maintence" cuts, which took off a pretty lot, but this last one...... the barber really fucked me up... i think. It's almost like he "layered" my hair. Its pretty long in the back, a lil shorter on the sides, and even shorter in the front (bangs). Should i just let it keep growing, then trim it when the shortest part is at the desired length? or should i just go to a pro salon and have them "fix" it so it grows the desired way? Please, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you :-D.

If I were you I would just let it all grow out then worry about it in a year or two or whatever your desired length is.

Take it from a stylist who knows...odds are that "fix" will be interpreted to mean "CUT everything to the least common denominator (your short bangs) and start over again". My advice? At this point don't chance sacrificing the length you have already achieved. Stay away from a salon/stylist until those bangs are LONGER than you desire them. Then, if you want to, you can have your hair "evened out". Hang in there in the meantime and good luck!

JUST LEAVE IT ALONE! Trust me. This comes from personal experience. There is no such thing as a "maintenance cut" until you haven't had a cut for two years. Get beyond that kind of thinking. DON'T TOUCH IT!
You'll hate it for 6-months to a year, and then you'll thank us all.
:)

Ah, this sounds like it's business in the front, party in the back. That barber fixed you up with a Camaro Cut, aka hockey player haircut, aka mudflap, aka beaver paddle, aka neck blanket, aka ... You're sporting a mullet!

This is so ironic. The same thing just happen to me exactly 2 weeks ago. My hair was perfect all one length and I had trained and conditioned the way I wanted it. Like you I made the mistake of thinking I needed a "maintenance" trim and I trusted some dumb bitch who went scissor happy on my head and did the exact opposite of what I told her to do and now I have a mullet.
Listen to everyone else here. Stay away from any Barbers, Salons, or anyone with scissors for at least a year (I plan to). In six months you will notice a difference. Try to stay outdoors while the weather is still warm this will stimulate faster growth and in the winter use hot oil treatment twice a week. I think we will both be a little happier by Febuary. I know how you feel. Hang in there and never trust a woman with scissors they are all descendants of Delilah!!! Triple H
