Hmmm. I just realized you can't really tell how far down my hair goes, because you can't tell where my waistline is. Maybe tomorrow I'll take some more.
By the way, this braid was put in yesterday. I've slept in it and washed and conditioned it since it was put in, hence the disheveled look.

i've been growing a long beard for a while but i don't think mine could ever get that long

I've been growing it since 1996 or so. The longest whiskers are on the left side and reach my lap when I hold my head up (not straight up, but as if I'm looking straight ahead).

My hair was last cut in 1992. My beard was last cut in 1996. It's just over 22 inches at the longest (left side).

That looks great!! I like the beard too. How in the world did you ever wash and condition your hair with it in that braid? Seems like it would be very difficult to do.

I used more shampoo than I normally would, and then I sort of squeezed and relaxed multiple times and spent a lot of time under the shower to rinse.

One of the things about having long hair is that it attracts women who want to braid it. That's what happened here. A friend of mine asked if she coul braid it and whether I wanted a regular French braid or an upside-down (Dutch) braid. I asked for the latter and got it.
Next day when she say I still had it in, she offered to redo it for me. I declined mostly because I was afraid of flaking because when I last washed it, I didn't have a good opportunity to rinse the flakes out since the hair was braided.
I get my hair professionally braided at Rennaissance festivals, but I leave it in at most an additional day.

I suppose that depends in part on how you measure. The beard has a head start, emerging lower down on the head. I can tuck my beard into my pocket if I'm sitting, but not when I'm standing. My hair will go into my pocket either way, so I suppose it's longer despite starting higher.
The longest hair is about 22 inches on my beard and over 36 inches on my head (haven't measured lately).
