Caution: A BEE on my TAiL! Bug stories

Just moments ago I ran out [it's HoT!] just to get the mail.
Came back in, sat down and as I was going through the letters...
felt a slight tickling on my neck. Thought it was just some of my tail hairs
brushing up against my neck. . .but that's when I noticed the bee on the floor!
Bee? Did I say BEE? I meant to say...Hornet! More specifically: a medium-sized Yellow Jacket!
What attracted it to my hair? Have no idea, but there it was!
Will have to be more careful next time.
Anybody have any 'BUG Stories' to share???

Actually, yes. I was in the garden a couple of days ago and this wasp just wouldn't leave me alone. It kept dive-bombing my head! I really didn't understand its problem. I danced around for a couple of minutes before retreating inside.
It's a conspiracy, obviously.

I would pay attention to this! Even killer bees give a warning before they sting. Their warning it to head-butt you. If you are getting head-butt, you are probably close to their nest.
More to the point of the previous post, insects see primarily in ultraviolet. They also see polarized light. Reflections, like the reflections from the surface of water, are polarized. A cheap pair of fisherman glasses eliminates these reflections if the orientation is correct.
In any case, there may be something about certain hair care products that change the ultraviolet reflectance of the hair. You wouldn't see it, but the bee/wasp would. It seems likely to me that sunblock products, even if clear, would appear to insects to be a different color than, say, regular creams or conditioners.
If anyone can point to data on this, I'd be interested.
not to mention certain fragrances...

Some shampoos and conditioners have powerful perfumes & fragrances.
Especially those that are 'geared' toward women.
Deet is very effective against many 'bothersome' insects and
I will apply some here and there but I'm afraid to pat in on my head
afraid it might damage my hair...
Nut man o man...but if you've ever been bitten by a mosquito on the HEAD...
it hurts like hell...

Victor - how do I get the doggone bugs to wear sunglasses? Just kidding!
I have noticed they are attracted to my hair when using Biolage product - I haven't looked at the contents, but it does smell a little "herby"

I had the same thing happen when I was about ten years old and walking across the driveway in front of the house. I felt something land in my hair. I ran my fingers through my hair and pulled it out. I looked at it and saw it was a paper wasp. I quickly let it go, but I still got stung the instant I let it go. If I had shorter hair, maybe it would have stung my face or head because I may have been near one of the wasp nests at the time.
