Progress with Vive....

Well today was my second day of using vive smooth intense... i was sure to shampoo AND condition this time, hehehe... Well anyways, maybe it's that I'm not leaving the conditioner in long enough, maybe I need to use melting gel or the serum, or maybe my hair just sucks, but I'm just not getting the results I wanted. It did make my hair a little bit softer but did little to reduce the bulk from what it already was. I suppose I will keep trying it for a few weeks and see how it goes... Or maybe I will try using Aussie. Sorry I hope I'm not being a pain to anyone here it's just I can never find anything satisfactory for my hair, and I want to have it SO bad....

You can try the Serum (by ViVE)...the camelina seed oil is a bit
different than the usual silicones in gels & conditioners.
Until my hair grew longer, I always used the MELTing Gel to 'condition'
my hair and to add moisture and to control it.
Until your hair gets longer, making it lie down against your head is
always a challenge because there are so many shorter hairs that
are getting longer.
Once MOST of your hairs are longer, you will find products like
Vive to be much more effective, and you can stop using gels.
Good Luck!

What are the results like for you? See, this is what I want... picture having thick wavy hair, but what it looks like after youve showered and gently patted down your hair with a towel. It is still damp, and feels soft and is pretty flat down on your head. That's exactly how I want my hair to be, but as it dries more and more it starts to bulk up and poof out on my head. Are you saying the serum may keep it in a more "damp" state that will hold it down?
Sometimes I wear a hat for a long period of time, and that helps to flatten it out... but that takes to much time. I would use some sort of gel but I feel like I must put too much in, cause it lookes like i use so much that it looks greasy or it is stiff or sticky... and i would rather shave my head than have that!
Well I just want to say thanks to all of you, especially Luckskind, for always giving me advice and tips on this stuff! I don't mean to annoy anyone but I really do appreciate the help that I receive here. So thanks!

When your hair is wet or damp and patted down...it lies flat against
your head because the dampness is taking the place of the AIR.
The wetness or moisture acts as a sort of temporary 'glue.' But as your hair
begins the dry...the AIR replaces that moisture...i.e. your hair AIR dries.
In order to KEEP that 'wetness' effect...you need to replace the
water moisture with something else. That 'something else' can be
a GEL...a grease...an oil...etc.
A Hair conditioner CONDITIONS hair...but to KEEP that 'damp' look
you need the above-listed products.
APPLY the product (MELTing Gel, for example, can last for many)
hours)
but it is also important NOT to keep touching or 'adjusting' your hair
after you have styled it because this will have the effect of 'fluffing' it up (i.e. adding AIR between the layers of your hair).
Good Luck!

So what about that Vive Serum, is that also a product that can do the trick?
Unfortunately for me then, part of the reason I want longer hair is so I and others can touch it and play with it, but also keep it so it is flat down after the touching is done... is there just nothing to do for that problem then?

The combination of Vive Serum and L'Oreal Melting Gel has made my hair much more manageable. The gel is not stiff or sticky at all...it feels like there's nothing in it. It is very touchable, so I think if you use these, you won't have a problem with that. People don't touch my hair, but I constantly flip it and stuff, and it is smooth as ever. Give it a try and see what happens.

I've looked for the melting gel at Walgreens but could not find it, where can it be found? How do you use them together, do you mix them in at the same time and apply?
And thank you very much for all your advice.
All products can be found...

All products can be found at Wal-Mart.
They are not expensive (except for the Serum)
The TUBES of L'Oreal Melting gel look like this:
The name "Melting Gel" is rather small...You may want to look for
the name STUDIO FX L'Oreal Melting Gel...
Good Luck!

I bought both at Kinney drugs (I don't know if they have any around where you live, they don't at my home but I'm at school). You could try Eckerd (or whatever it's called) or any other chain drug stores. Yes, the serum is expensive (7 dollars on average), but I think as a rule, women are used to spending much more than this on a single product. The shampoo, conditioner, and serum together don't cost as much as some products I used to buy!
This is how I use them: after I get out of the shower, I wrap my hair in a towel (I explained how to do that a bunch of posts ago in case you don't know how) until it's half dry or so (my hair is down to the middle of my back, so I usually leave it for 15-20 minutes) then I apply the Serum, work thru, and comb it out (DON'T brush it when wet!!!) Next comes the gel...I don't mix them. My hair is the best it's been since I had those horrible box braids (actually, it's probably better than it's even been, for colored hair). I doubt you will be disappointed.
