need advice-grad school interview

Maybe this is the wrong group of people to ask... cause I know what everyone is gonig to say... but here's the deal:
I have an interview for a graduate school in January, which I REALLY want to get into. It's my top choice and I have invested a lot of time and effort into their application.
The thing is I am afraid the hair might turn them off before I even talk. Already a friend asked me if I am cutting it for the intrview, to be honest I had never even considered it. But I am afraid is might hurt me...
Anyone have advice? been in the same situation?
Thanks

How would you feel if you cut your hair and they still didn't accept you? You'll either get accepted or you won't. If that happens, would you rather have your current growth or a buzz cut? If you like your hair, I'd say keep it.

First, I think it depends where you are. Some localities are more liberal then others.
Either way, though, I'd gel my hair straight back since you can't put it in a tail yet.
Dont cut it

I would not cut it. The curl in your hair keeps it from looking as long as it is. I do not think it is at a length that would be detrimental to an interview. Keep it out of your eyes and face the day of the interview, but you should be fine. I work for an Executive Job search firm and I often time have to advise people on thier appearance for an interview.

I teach at a university. I wouldn't even think about basing a decision to admit a student or giving him/her a scholarship on hairstyle, dress, or other superficial factors. I think (hope) I'm in a large majority.
Good luck.

As a survivor of graduate school, I can say that hair length is not an issue. What matters is how well you did on your GRE's (general and subject) your undergrad GPA, the skill set you bring to whatever program you'll be attending, and the personal recommendation letters. So don't sweat your long hair and please do not cut it just to try and fit into some arbitrary "social norm." By being yourself the faculty will recognize and appreciate someone who is being true to themself.

The only thing to do is make sure that its is clean and tody - maybe trim the goatee up a bit - looks a bit straggly.
I'd have no problem in taking yopu on in a senior position in the UK - in fact I would be concerend if you did cut your hair - if that's what you like then it is YOU I want to meet not someone specially turned out for the one day only.

As a past graduate student and employer, I'd say the length of a man's hair is not an issue. Especially in the collegiate realm. I know many PhDs w/ long hair. I think they are more concerned w/ your brain power as oppose to dead cell follicles. Of course, this is my humble opinion. Most campuses are looking for those individuals that will set their campus apart from others.

The advice I have is simple. Look professional and not like you just rolled out of bed. Your hair looks great and will neither add to nor subtract from the interview as long as its neat.
It's how you present yourself (along with your CV) that will make the difference.
I have several colleagues who are professionals and have long hair.

Put it into a neat ponytail if you can. That'll be enough. Also go in dressed nicely. As you would for a job interview (maybe not with a business suit, but, nicely dressed).
