What to do, what to do? ::sigh::

I don't usually post here. I read, take encouragement, and keep growing. My hair is actually starting to get longer. It's LOOKING longer, even to me. I haven't had anything done to it since July. I told myself I wouldn't until at least next August. By then even my shortest hair will be down to my shoulders. (Well, except for the ones that have regenerated. But you know what I mean.)
My dilemma is that now that I'm getting past the awkward stage into the beginning of the just-plain-long stage, I don't think I like it as much. Mostly because the ends curl. My hair is now in that long-enough-to-tuck-behind-the-ears-but-too-short-for-a-ponytail phase. And I really don't like it. I'm an entertainer. I'm lucky that I CAN have long hair. But I still need it to look good. If I have the split ends trimmed (which I haven't done since about March) or have it "texturized" or whatever - something to give it style without altering the length - is that going to solve this "style" problem of mine? Or does it sound like I'm doomed to fine, flat hair that curls at the ends?
I can hear you all yelling "Picture! Post a picture so we know what the heck you look like!" I don't have many photos of myself and I don't have a digital. So I'm posting a photo from last October*, and I'll try to get to the computer store and see if I can get a web-cam shot there.
*Note on photo: As I look at it, I want to say my hair seems a LOT longer now. Realistically, it's maybe 1.5 inches longer at most, but it seems way longer than that. Like, where the front looks like it goes halfway down in that photo, it now hangs down to my jaw. But you get the idea of the curly flip thing (although in the photo my hair has a lot more personality. Now it just lays flat and curls at the end.) Also, I've lost 25 lbs since that photo was taken. I really will try to get an updated photo very soon.

The curl at the ends at that length is largely caused by constant contact between your hair and your shoulders, back and clothes at every step and at every movement of your head. I fund it a real problem when n=my hair was first at that length in the 1970s, and I had to wait nine months before it grew long wnough to fall below the point where this stopped happening. Only one solution: don;t cut or trim, as this will just prolong the problem, let time and growth take care of the problem, it will eventually provide a solution.

All you need is just a little more time. You are still officially in the awkward stage if you can't put it all into a ponytail yet. Just a little longer, hang in there. You're very close now!

Simple but hard answer buddy, Do not cut it. Let it grow! The thing that happened to me sounds very similar to what is happening to you now. You can get through the awkward stage if you just stick it out. Trimming will prolong your suffering, wait until it is long enough to put in a ponytail before you do any trimming. Also, you can try to gel it so it behaves. Your lucky to have the type of hair you have, and when it grows, the ugly curls will become flowing locks!
Sooooo. . . . . GROW ON AND DON’T GIVE UP!
