Making hair lighter

I have dirty blond hair. It is shoulder length at the moment and I would like to have it lighter. I want it to be naturally lighter though. I do not want to use any chemicals or anything. Is there any kind of food that makes it lighter? Does sunlight make it lighter?

Yeah, sunlight will make it lighter. Unfortunately, it also damages your hair.

While I took a year out b4 uni to travel in Australia the guy i was travelling with used to squeeze fresh lemon into his hair every so often and this reacted with the sun and his hair went a really nice blond tint.
Though I dont know how good for your hair this is as lemons are acidic.
