Frustrated with Flips

Sorry guys need to vent some frustration, last 3-4 days I have been really frustrated.
Why? Well the hair on the left side of my head has just taken to flipping outwards. My hair is about 8.5 inches long and I thought by now it would have enough weight to pull itself flat. Instead the lower 4 inches just consistently flip outwards, and this only affect the left side of my hair. The right side is really well behaved
I do everything with it, I comb the underside of the hair, I've tried using a round brush to curl it under, blow drying etc. and it still flips out, I just dont seem to be able to anything with it!
Any suggestions? I'm not a fan of gunk like gel or wax.. but I'm running outta options.

I would be frustrated too, though with several more inches most likely all will calm down. There are so many "Suddenlys" when it comes to the Awkward Stage.
One thought however: perhaps you sleep with your head on the left side? If so, this may be the reason. If so, try pulling your hair above your head when you sleep as this may prove helpful. Hang in there!

Could be... I'm not sure on which side a sleep. I'll get my hair outta the way anyway and see if that helps any.

Sure hope it works for you Sorted..............it DID for myself when I was at your length. I can't take credit for this idea however as I am quite sure I read of it a long time ago on this very Hyperboard. BTW: I still sleep with my hair pulled upwards........if not, even at my stage I awake to an almost "molded-in" design which wants to stay the way I woke up despite the fact that my hair is normally straight.

Hi :-)
I am a former hair dresser, and also someone who recently started growing my hair. This suggestion will get that flip under control: 1: Use a round brush to turn the hair under as it drys, using a low heat hair dryer; 2: After it is dry lightly spray that area with a little hair spray and let it dry (that only takes a couple mins to dry); 3: After it is dry comb thru it lightly to break up the heavy fell of the hair spray; 4: Use a large barrel curling iron on low heat to turn that hair only under. If you do this it should stay straight and not flip out until you wash it the next time. This is a short term plan only, as your hair grows the weight will hold it down. Yes, products like curling irons can damage hair if used over the long haul, but I don't expect any siginificant damage will be done if you only use it in a specific area, occasionally, during the growing out stage.
Hope this helps
Theron
