Introducing... Clarifying shampoo's!

I'm a little bit obsessed with these shampoo's, but ive noticed that alot of people complain here about their shampoo/conditioner not working as well as they used to. For example take the dreaded pantene line, you may use it once or twice and think its does a good job then after a while your hair starts feeling dry after you've dried it or even when its wet and dull looking, you may then change your cond cos you thik you old one isnt working. The cause is buildup! Nasty drugstore and probably most salon brand shamp/cond are overloaded with silicones and other things which coat your hair and are not properly removed when u next shampoo. Since most people condition every time they shampoo these things accumulate on the hair. There is a simple way to remove this and return your hair to its healthy state - introducing the clarifying shampoo!
These shampoo's strip all the nasty buildup off your hair and leave it gleamingly clean. If you use a protien treatment dont expect it to do anything unless you have clarified your hair first as the buildup will prevent the treatment from working, this goes for conditioner too. After clarifying is the perfect opp to use a protien treatment then or follow with cond and your hair should look great. This should be done about once a week, inbetween normal shampoo should be used as over clarifying can do the opposite of buildup.
Rec's - neutrogena anti residue shampoo (drugstore)
best = nioxin bionutrients cleanser (salon)
thanx for listening.

And back home I have the Neutrogena one as well but have not used it in a long time.

Funny that you mention Pantene as a brand notorious for causing build-ups, curiously they have introduced a "Clarrifying" variety as well.
Question: Isn't a good option for a Clarrifier, to Wash your hair in Normal Soap once every 6-8 weeks? OK - not great for your hair, but its guaranteed to strip any build-up off your hair isn't it?
[Good Conditioning Treatment required immediately thereafter.]

I found the Neutrogena clarifying shampoo to be very harsh, it totally stripped my hair.
For clarifying and removing buildup, I use a vinegar rinse once every week or two. After shampooing, I mix about about a tablespoon of cider vinegar with a cup or two of warm water and a tablespoon of conditioner(without 'cones), then pour over my head (keep your eyes closed, vinegar stings like crazy!) and massage into hair and scalp. Rinse, rinse, rinse, and rinse some more, then condition/rinse as usual. Result - very soft, very shiny hair, build-up gone. I use cider vinegar, but regular white vinegar would work as well.
I've also heard that mixing a teaspoon or so of baking soda into your regular shampoo will remove buildup, but I haven't tried that.
