Blessings from Singapore

Dear longhairs and anyone from US,
Allow me to deviate briefly from the main topic. I'd just like to send my deepest condolences and most earnest regards to your country and all the affected victims. I've seen nearly continuous coverages of the ongoing happenings from day 1 hour 1, and I must really say that it is a completely heart-rending experience.
All my life, I've never seen anything so close to the previous 2 WWs. I definitely hope that this isn't a prelude to a third one, certainly not. All of you are in my heart, my thoughts during this difficult times. I just hope everyone is fine.
Whoever knows me (or thought you know me), just drop a reply here or my email, just to tell me that you're fine, 'cos I'm concerned.

Well, as being a former worker from United Airlines, I was fortunate to
visit the USA some times and had the chance to make some friends in person
and some via the Internet.
I have a deepest respect and love for this country and its people who
always welcomed me as a dear friend. I'm writing to tell you on behalf of my
people in Brazil that we are deeply hurt and sorry for what happened last
Tuesday. I hope none of your family and friends had suffered any physical
injury during the attacks, because I really believe that we all are hurt
inside, in our hearts.
I've learned in my times in the US, how to honor and respect my own
country, based on what I had the chance to see while I was there. You're a
strong nation, I whish that you go through this with dignity and love.

as an american i can say that it is good to hear. something that the cowardly act has accomplished- it has united the people in the u.s. AND it has rallied much of the rest of the world behind us- something the attackers surely didn't bargain for. in an unthreaded response to a question further down- would i part with my hair to fight for my country? with heavy heart but yes. in native american cultures cutting one's hair is considered a sign of mourning. in this case i'd consider it highly appropriate. in the big picture it's only hair- it can grow back. the thousands murdered in 4 cowardly acts will never come back.

What happenend on 11 september is something I and most
people can't discribe with words.
Although living in Belgium I always had , and still have
a great sympathy and respect for America and all it stands for.
This was something which had to be seen only in a movie.
I hope that the "brains" behind this will be found and punished !
I also hope that this isn't the start of WWW3 , which many
europeans see as possible.
I also would send my deepest condolences to all the victims
of this tragedic incident.

As a U.S. citizen I've been touched by the solidarity shown by our brothers and sisters abroad on the news, and now through this website, I have to say you're very kind and I appreciate your sentiments very much. I was born in Manhattan and grew up near there, the Twin Towers were built when I was a child and were a source of pride. Although I now live 2000 miles away from the east coast in New Mexico, the attacks have been occupying my thoughts constantly, yet I'm trying to carry on with life as usual. People around me are still overwhelmed by sadness and fear, and moved to tears from the shock of these events. We each take it personally. I think we are also very confused and conflicted emotionally about how to respond, and how this came to happen. It is a very complicated situation. "We" and "they" are not clear distinctions, overlapping in our global world, and especially in this country with its rich diversity of cultures. Before I ramble on further, thanks, obrigado, merci, danke to you guys again for your blessings and wishes, it's nice to have friends both near and far. --blake

I was born in upstate New York and lived in Staten Island for a time. I am old enough to remember the New York City skyline before it was graced with the twin jewels that no longer visually greet visitors and residents alike.
I now live in Wisconsin, but did take my family back home a few years ago. My wife and children arrived in the train terminal in the lower levels of the WTC and we proceeded to the observation deck on the roof. What an awesome experience.
I, too, would like to thank those around the world for their statements and acts of rememberance and condolence. I work for an international company and have received several e-mails throughout the past several days from our global locations expressing words that have both consoled and encouraged in ways I could never have fathomed.
The attack occurred on U.S. soil, but the whole world is feeling the impact.
Thank you for taking a "time out" on this site to express your thoughts and feelings.

Hi longhairedman, it's my love for long-hair and the great personalities on this board that makes me concerned if any one of you are affected. So what if long-haired men are vain, so long if they're GREAT, that should suffice :)
