Need advice for thinning hair

Yes, my girlfriend's hair is thinning on the top of her scalp. It's noticable, and I need some pointers from people on how to regrow thinning hair without her using Rogaine. Can someone please give me some advice?

How about she goes to the doctor! This may be a medical condition that can be reversed if caught early.

Ya, as Reflective says, see what a doctor/dermatologist has to say, might be something serious. But if it's not, about the only thing I know of that MIGHT help is scalp massage . . . but ya, see a doctor first, for sure . . .

What's wrong with Rogaine? My mom's hair was thinning really badly and the 2% stopped the loss cold, and now she has some regrowth. I'm impressed with how well it worked. Propecia use is controversial, with some medical reports saying it works on women, some say not.
She might have a hard time getting a prescription, though, because it will badly deform a male fetus. She MUST be on contraceptives.
