Lord of the Rings

The post below mentions this but I felt it deserves to be titled as such. This movie is a feast for the eyes for lovers of long hair whether on men or women or both.
All the elves have incredible hair as do most of the men especially Aragorn.
Arwen and Galadriel have gorgeous hair. I'm curious if every actor and actress wore wigs or if a few had their actual hair. Liv Tyler could conceivably not be wearing a wig.

My understanding is that all the actors had weaves.

Legolas has very cool hair. I have the same color and type of hair, though mine's not nearly as long yet.

Actually, your hair probably is longer... legolas (orlando bloom) actually has something akin to a mohawk under that hair. it's all a wig.

I guess at best i'd be considered a purist. However I cannot sit through a film with men or woman wearing weaves or wigs. There are enough beautiful people out there they could hire, especially where I live in San Diego they could hire to play true longhairs. I find it peculiar to witness this. They themselves must feel unatural. Although i'm a huge fan of Mark Wahlberg I could not bring myself to see Rockstar, because he wears a wig. Although some might say longhaired visibility at any cost.

I agree. I also don't like wigs but the talent pool of available men and women with real hair like in the movie is unfortunately small. The actors and actresses in the movie did a superb job and few could match their abilities.

I go back and forth on whether or not i regard acting as a talent. The late Quentin Crisp once said, "anyone can act, all one must do is say something like you mean it." There are people I enjoy watching on screen and their are people i do not. For my eight bucks I want to see authentic natural beauty. Plus, who can't play an elf..? Anyway Stanley, I liked your picture gallery i saw once. I forgot if it still exists.
it does

I still have my hair history site. I try to update it regularly. My new goal is chin-length bangs at which time I'll probably be able to get all my top hair in a ponytail.

Purist? Perhaps extreme fanatic is a better title for you.
Keep in mind that the actors in Lord of the Rings need to take other characters in other movies, television shows, and stage plays.
These actors can't be idle for months or years, waiting for their real hair to grow long for just one part in one movie.
Besides, a wig is an easy way to fit the actors appearence to the given role.
Over a lifetime, actors must take the roles of many characters in many movies, television shows, and plays. Male actors wear short hair because there are many more spots for short haired characters than long haired characters.
I hope this changes over time, but it is a reality for now.
Take a few acting classes, learn how the real world works.
I don't understand why anyone, especially one of us, would miss such a great movie because the actors wear wigs.
This is a movie based on fiction.
A movie is just light reflected off a screen.
This is like a Wicca not seeing the movie because the "magic" shown was all digital illusions.
See this movie, wear your own hair as long as you wish.

It's simply my opinion guy, and if your opinion is that i'm a fanatic, i respect your right to level that towards me. However, I think you were a little hard on me personally. I was maybe a little hard on a Hollywood vehicle that millions will see with or without your urging. Simply because it has these "ACTORS" in it. Or that they are "FANATICAL" over this genre of work.
Even my father liked this movie!

Even my father, who shaves his head, liked this movie!
All I was saying was that movie producers and directors pick actors by their talent and experience. Then they change the actors appearance by makeup and wigs to fit a given role. My obsevations was never a personal attack on you.
In February 2003, the animated Elfquest movie will be released. Many of the Elfquest characters, both male and female, wear great-looking, long hair.
I suppose you will refuse to see this movie as well, because these computer crafted cheacters wear computer cafted hair.
Maybe our webmaster can make a poll to see which Elfquest charater's hairsytle we would like to have in real life?
