Uneven hair growth - my pic
Posted by longhairtroll on March 07, 2002 at 15:00:42: Previous Next
Hi,
Firstly a hello to everyone, I've been reading this board for a couple of weeks now but this is my first post. In the last year & a half I haven't trimmed my hair at all and it's put on some length, however I notice from the pic above & others that it is slightly longer on the right hand side to the left. I can only deduce that either my hair grows quicker on this part of my head or it was cut unevenly last time, but I would have thought I'd have noticed that sooner. I was planning on letting it grow longer as I don't have too many split ends but I guess a light trim is in order to even things out.
Just interested to know - does anybody else experience this uneven hair growth?

I say trim it. It would look better if it was proportionate.
I think I have the same problem. My left side grows faster than my right. However, my right side is a bit thicker. You can't tell by looking at it, but I know since I deal with it on a daily basis.
Do what you feel is right. Ultimately, you have to do what YOU think is best. And I'm sure I speak for all of us that we'll support your decision. After all, it's your hair!
IF you decide to get it trimmed, be careful and be selective about who cuts it. ake sure you can trust the person doing it. I had a serious hack job done about 9 months ago. I've since found someone I can trust completely and my hair is back to what it was and then some.

Oh yes, sounds like the old argument against the "triangle head," which is what happens when the hair is cut straight across the "base of the triangle!"

not sure if this is any help but the hair on my left leg grows much thicker & faster than the hair on my right. I have more hair on one side of my head than the other AND I was once told we have masculine side and a feminine side on our body? not sure if this is fact or not. I would say its very possible that you have uneven hair growth. Definitely am in favor of you getting a trim. You have beautiful hair and a nice even up job would only make it more beautiful, you have nice streaks too.

I was lucky in life to have been very good friends with an international award winning hair stylist( competed and won in new york, paris, nominated hair dresser of the year for canada). At a very crucial time of my own personal hair growing she taught me so much and gave me the knowledge I needed in order to keep it healthy and long. One of the biggest mistakes that alot of stylists make when cutting long hair is they allow the client to sit in the chair. THIS IS WRONG WRONG WRONG. If your hair is below the top of the back of the chair it is imperitive that you stand straight and not sit while you are having your trim. That is the only way in which the hair will fall properly and thus allow you a good even trim. Its very sad my friend died of cancer at the age of 32 3 years ago and since then I have been quite lost as to who to let cut my hair. One would think there is nothing to it....but one would be wrong.....I have had several bad long hair cuts ....it does require skills. (I'm well past the 3 feet mark right now and due for an oh so painful but necessary 4 inch chop....)
Thanks guys
