longhair clothing style

One thing I have noticed through looking at all the pictures you all have posted on here is that most of the longhairs (including myself!) have chosen not to follow the baggy-clothes, hip-hop look that is so popular today. I notice most frequently jeans and pants that actually fit, and are on the waist, shirts tucked in that have the sleeve openings on the sholders instead of the forearms, stylish tapered sport coats, etc. Not once have I ever seen anyone here wearing baggy pants with their boxers hanging out the top, which I think is totally tacky! I have even seen a few kilts around here which I think are totally cool as well
One thing I can definitely say is that us long hairs are definitely good dressers!

I wear blue Levi's jeans all the time. But they're 560s not 501s. I hike so much my leg muscles have way outgrown 501s. :-) A guy who hikes a lot also doesn't want the legs really tight. 560s are nice, loose, and comfy. I can see why a skinny dude wouldn't want to wear 560s though. He'd get lost in there.
As for boots, they are way too uncomfortable for a guy who walks a lot - I go for New Balance running shoes. My partner is really into boots to the point he's put thousands of pictures of them on the web site, so he certainly wishes I felt differently. :-)
On my web page you'll see me in 560s - to me they're "just right":

Hair is like body fat, but excess hair doesn't contribute to heart disease, diabetes, etc. Now, if we can lose weight as quickly as we can lose hair, or to put it another way, if we can gain hair as easily as we can gain weight, then that would be nice! Maybe one pound of fat to one INCH of hair might be all right.-)

Hey, I figured you were jokin' man, but I really wanted to be sure you knew I wasn't dissin' you, MG. On this thing you can't tell like when you're with someone. By the way, that hike yesterday was awesome. Up and down over three ridges each over a thousand feet high, overlooking the Pacific. Can't agree with that. It's not racist to say, "Most guys with dreds are black." What is a sad state of affairs is that some people are so trigger happy with their sense of political correctness that they cower others such as the original poster into feeling they have to reassure others they are not racist every time they mention race. Different races have different cultures, and they have different hair. Here we talk about hair, how longhairs look, and other cultural preferences of longhairs, so differences are going to come up as topics here. In my book, differences are to be celebrated, and proudly so without any cowering qualification. If anything, I'd chastise the original poster for cowering to the PC Patrol in the first place, not for talking about style, which is a cool topic here!
I will disagree with the original poster on one matter - I live in the Castro so I see lots of gay people and know this: Saggy pants with one's underwear showing is a straight thing, not at all a gay one.

You're misunderstanding what I meant. Anytime someone uses "but" in a sentence, it's to negate the beginning of the sentence.
"I'm not homophobic but..."
"I'm not sexist but..."
"I love you but..."
"I'm not into beastiality but..."
It's usually a way to get out of responsibility for what you're about to say. Maybe it's because I'm from Ohio, but anytime I hear that phrase, it ends with "black people are lazy, criminals, whiny, etc." Or in the case of this kid, he's calling their clothing choice "gay." And obviously you are not familiar with how young boys speak today, because when a young boy calls a person or concept "gay" it's an all purpose insult, not a label on their sexual preference. Talking about and embracing differences is one thing, but he's insulting differences, which is quite the opposite. Why did he even feel the need to tell us whom he DOESN'T dress like?

Or it can be there to negate what the person THINKS is going to be said in response. Or is AFRAID what is going to be said, even though it would be out of place to say it. That was my point.
: when a young boy calls a person or concept "gay" it's an all purpose insult, not a label on their sexual preference.
Yeah, and when we were talking about African Americans we were talking about Arabs from Egypt and when we were talking about black people we were talking about white guys who just came out of a coal mine. NOT! When such terms, and "gay" is one of them, refer to people or cultural items, they refer to a social group. As a gay man, I am insulted that you would even suggest gay is an insult. Talk about not being with the times, it hasn't been such since about 1970.

Bill,
Although I do agree that "gay" should no longer be seen as an insult, I also agree that T is right in saying that gay is usely meant as an insult. Although I am "non-preferential" (no concrete ual preference) and 90% of my friends are homosexual, I still find the term offensive if used by the wrong people in the wrong conotation. But, I think that you are absolute right that we need to see that "gay" is less of an insult than an a compliment (most gay men I know, are self-confident, honest, well-dressed, and incredibly sensitive to others)

There was reference to boxers hanging out looks gay. I understand young people today may say that something is gay or looks gay meaning uncool. But if they mean that it looks gay and homosexual, I would disagree, too. 99 percent of all gays dress too neat to be taken as straight. Traditionally they have worn very tight fitting clothes and currently perhaps proper fitting. They definitely don't wear baggy. Skateboarders are the only people I know or see that wear baggy and boxers showing. In fact, heterosexual males over 25 don't usually wear baggy either cuz their girlfriends by this time have exerted traditioanl pressure!

Okay. Lemme get this straight.
The hip hop look is gay.
Kilts are heterosexual.
It's funny that you would call the hip hop look gay but the kilts straight. Most people would get it the other way around.
That said, I don't think that the hip hop look is at all homosexual. From what I see of Grenich Village of NYC...gays are into kind of tight jeans, but not chokingly tight. They usually have the kind of pockets that allow them to walk and shake their asses at the same time. You can usually tell that they are gay cause they are with their partners who dress similarly. I'm not judging the way they dress, but I am just bringing out the point that gays are not usually into "sloppy" attire. I actually find that gays, for the most part, are amongst the best dressed men in New York City.
Now kilts? What would most ignorant teenagers say about that? "That's gay, man." "It's a SKIRT. For women and queers only."
Again, not judging....not judging....
