Won't stay down. Help.

My hair is straight on the top of my head, then as it gets to the bottom of the side, it goes straight out and curls slightly upwards! And to make matters worse it only does that on ONE side (go figure). In the pic you probably think it doesnt look that bad, but its just the angle. It is worse in real life and the fact that the other side lays almost perfectly flat. I use conditioners and have tried certain glosses and waxes (waxes actually just make it worse and the rest of my hair wavy) And gels are more trouble than they're worth I dont even go there anymore. I guess has anyone had this similar frustrating hair characteristic? Is there any other product or something that might help weigh it down without looking distinctly different from the rest of the hair or if not, will it go away as the hair grows out more? Or is this the early sign of massive curling in that area?

: This problem will probably go away once it gets longer. In the meantime, try brushing/combing it with the other hand- it may be that you are too one sided in your brushing/combing action.
not that i know of

I use a wide toothed comb but have tried different brushes and stuff but it always looks the same way. I always switch hands to do the other side also. If I run my hand through my hair, if falls back into place the same way. also if I let it air dry without combing it gets really frizzy but it doesnt lay any better that way either. Oh well I guess i'll have to see if it goes away with more length.

Try wear a beanie hat after you get out the shower then it'll dry flat to your head? It might work?

It should be easy to keep the hair from sticking out by using a blow dryer and a large round brush to dry your hair. After shampooing, use a towel to dry your hair so it's just a little damp. Then wrap the end of the hair around the brush so you can put some tension on it, and dry it straight with the blow dryer. The hair might curl under some from the round brush, but it won't stick out.
Its not such a big deal

When its almost dry take a blow dryer and round brush and curl your hair inward while blow drying. Some people will say blow drying damages hair but thats more myth than fact.

Just be patient. As it gets longer this will change. Picture someone with very long hair that has a wave in the middle. If the hair was cut at the wave, it would probably look like your hair (which isn't bad). As it gets longer, it will grow past the "wave" -- know what I mean? Stay with it. It's only a matter of time.

It's just the awkward stage... it'll go away, don't worry.
But, maybe you're washing too much? Your hair looks pretty dry, that's not good for it. If you don't wash it as often and let the natural oils build up it'll weigh the hair down and look a lot nicer, in my opinion. Just give it a try.
