Well, this is very difficult for me to read something like this, because part of me is still Christian, and part isn't. I'm experiencing an awful mantraschism, so to speak (that's why my nick is so fitting).
Personally, I don't think that Jesus had long hair. =\ I think that that part of his little essay was accurate, at least.
But then the stereotyping begins. What? Long hair tells everyone where we stand on Vietnam, and all the rest?
...
. . .
I forget what else was said, but I do recall something about long hair being a form of rebellion. ... Um, what about just wanting long hair for the sake of having long hair? Personally, I'm not trying to rebel in any way, and if I was, I wouldn't limit my rebellion to simply having long hair.
I don't think that that essay would bother me so much if I didn't think that at least some of it is true. So I'm in something of a personal crisis, and I face a terrible decision -- much more than simply wondering if I should grow it or cut it.

I forgot about the part about men balding. I think that's a very weak argument. If anything, wouldn't that more or less say that it's a shame for men to have hair at all? It falls out whether it's long or short. And he said that 'most women don't bald'. 'Most' means that some do. So is it a shame for them to have long hair, too? I just think that whole 'doesn't the nature of things' argument is weak and baseless, at best. I'm not convinced, in any case.

Sounds like a "Buzz Board" kind of guy.
I wonder if he stand outside of barber shops, like the buzz board guys, unable to keep from gazing at the men getting their hair shaved.

I went to the buzz board yesterday and they have posts everyday about watching people getting their head shaved on some barber shops webcam. I personally can't see how anyone could sit and watch that all day.

Okay, I read the article and here's MY two cents worth: I am NOT a Christian. I am Native American. I believe in The Creator. Does this make me a satanic person? My beliefs in The Creator are as strong as a Christians' beliefs. Who is right in their beliefs? What happened to the "Judge not lest ye be judged" approach the Christians are SUPPOSED to have? I will tell you: it gets thrown out the window at their convenience.
And as far as long hair in general goes: if hair was MEANT to be short, it would stop growing. Think about it... a dog's hair stops growing at some point reletive to the breed and conditions it was meant to survive in. MOST animals are thst way.Why would WE be any different?

I DISagree with the idea that Jesus had short hair.
1. THE EXAPMPLES of statues etc. were all basically non-Jews.
2. St. Paul uses the word "shame" NOT "sin"...big difference.
(Paul also preferred people NOT to marry IF possible).
These were opinions not commands from God.
3. Although the "Shroud" is still not proven to be authentic,
(no artist of the 14th Century knew that much about anatomy to fool
even medical doctors). Should it prove to be 2000 years old one day,
then they will have a perfect example of a 1st Century Man with
long hair.
NOTE: It also shows a LONG BRAID in back!

First point;
Wherever we go, our hair tells people where we stand on Vietnam, Wallace, Campus disruption, dope.
When was this article written? 1967?
Second point;
It seems to me that whole Paul quote is phrased as a question. Seems overwhelmingly simple to me. The answer is no! Long hair is NOT a shame unto him!

I don't think anyone should take the advice of a 4000+ year old archaic fairytale book when it comes to hairstyle *roll eyes*
